St. Albans is Episcopalian. I had assumed Russert was Catholic.
I thought so too.
What? No lying in state beneath the Capitol Dome?
HE WAS A JOURNALIST! IS THERE A 21 GUN SALUTE? A HORSE WITH THE BOOTS BACKWARDS IN THE STIRRUPS? THIS IS INSANITY!!!
What about the Caisson procession and empty boot as well?
Good grief! I’m sorry the guy dropped dead-—but so did a lot of other people that day. Am I missing something here-—what exactly is it that elevated a “talking head” to the status of national hero?
Just another fallen soldier in the lefty panthenon of fallen Fellow Travelers. Just get the poor slob buried and shut up about his life as a paid shill for the MoronMedia!!
article: It will be televised by MSNBC
sainthood to follow the brunch
I didnt mind the guy and I certainly feel for his family - but even the coverage is disproportionate to the situation
Cspan often carries these funerals but I didn’t see it on their schedule. If you’re a Christian, it’s powerful to see a service carried out over the airwaves.
Russert was a CINO as evidenced by his working and advocacy for pro-infanticide politicians.
That makes sense.
One more batch of thread comments reflecting what I call the Hillbilly Effect. “If it ain’t all about me and mine, I’m tired of hearing about it.” FR used to be better than that.
Just about any religious service carried out in response to a tragedy becomes an all-faiths fiasco where the only name that matters is never mentioned: Jesus Christ.
St. Albans is right next to the National Cathedral which is also nominally Episcopalian but also the site of many state funerals.
Russert did received a Jesuit education from Canisius High School in Buffalo. He received his B.A. from John Carroll University, which is also Catholic.
Next — canonization.
They’re having the wake at St Alban’s because Luke went to school there...
We will win! We will win!
