Deval (MA Gov) Wants His Own Jet… Paid for by Us
Hub Politics ^ | 6/16/08 | Margolis

Deval Patrick has been in the headlines for misuse of State Police helicopters for personal transportation. He has also been in the news lately for trying to impose a sales tax on aircraft used by his subjects. I learned today that Patrick has been shopping for a private jet to be paid for by the taxpayers. Patrick has his eye on an $11 million Lear 45. Deval Patrick was elected governor of a state that can be traversed north-south in about 1 hour by car and east-west in less than 2 hours. Why would he need a transcontinental private jet? To go to New York City to see the bankers from whom the state will have to borrow money to pay for his expanded spending programs? There are commercial flights every 30 minutes that leave from Logan Airport, just a 10-minute ride by limousine from the State House. To go to Washington, D.C. to hobnob with his fellow Democrats? There is a commercial flight every hour Monday through Friday.

Together we can pay for Deval’s luxuries, like a private jet.

I think Deval Patrick sounds like VEEP material to me...

Are you assuming you starting in P-town, and ending in, say, Williamstown?

Mass asked for it with Patrick and they are getting it. It remains to be seen if the rest of the country is stupid enough to go with Obama for similar reasons.

Yeah, right. Think Corzine, think state police lights...

A coworker told me he was a crossing guard in school, and somehow got selected to be among a handful to have lunch with the governor.

Any way, somewhere in the outing, a toll bridge was backed up, and the SP driver just put the lights and siren on, no problem.

Reminded me of being stuck on 93 coming from the North, going into Boston during the Big Dig. GD ambulances that would abuse their lights in the middle of the morning rush hour.

It’s about 2.5 hrs from Boston to Albany, isn’t it?

I rarely make it west of 84!

Did you mean to finish it thusly:

a guyish magnet?
a boy magnet?

A Lear 45!!! Hopefully, he’ll try to fly it himself, that shouldnt last long before he crashes it,hopefully with no loss of innocent people on the ground. A Lear 45 will cost $4 to 5 Million a year to operate not including the initial outlay nor interest paid on the $12 Million purchase price. Watch out, this is just a low ball to open the door. The Slime will argue he really needs a Gulfstream 5, because a Lear is beneath the status of an Affirmative Action Governor. GOOD LUCK, You Clowns Elected HIM! Hopefully, We will learn from your experience and send B.O. HUSSEIN packing back to KENYA where he should fit in nicely.

But Ron in all sincerity, it will take you as Ron Jeremy 3 hours because you will have to stop for 1 hour with one of your hundreds of women for a roll in the hay to keep your reputation up. Any self respecting Mass Trooper will cover the distance in 1.5 hours OR LESS!
A LEAR 45!!!!!!!!!!!!BEYOND STUPID!!! This IDIOT is WORSE THAN B.O. HUSSEIN, but not by much!

On a related note...

On the Howie Carr Show right now is Carla Howell, who believes that she will have enough signatures by Wednesday to get a referendum question on the November ballot regarding the elimination of the Massachusetts state income tax.

Last time it lost 48% to 40%. I think it will pass this time...I'm pretty quiet at work, but this I've already started talking up. No real disagreements so far.

It's about that to Albany for me, and I live in Hampshire county, western MA.

It is a good 2 and half hours from here to Boston, if traffic is light. And I am not all the way west in the state. From y house to my brothers in western MA is 1 hour. Yeah the time is a bit off. Now CT, 2 hours is right, but MA takes up the top of RI and then goes around RI on the east.

Governor Palin sold Alaska's jet.

I didn't know that, and good for her. But I would imagine that there is still a plane at the Governor's disposal, of some type. Given the distances and accessibility of portions of Alaska it only makes sense. Much more so than most other states.

Washington several years ago upgraded the longstanding King-Air turboprop for a jet (frankly I don't recall whether it was a Beach or a Citation or a Lear, but I think it was a BeechJet).

I have mixed feelings on this. I don't begrudge a governor an airplane. It usually makes sense on most levels. But there's a lot of range of cost for the various choices. The biggest variable ought to be the physical size of the state.

I moved here to MA about 2 years ago, and have been watching this loser mess everything up here. It’s unreal, lol. Starting with the endless celebration of him being elected as he traveled all over the state for months hosting endless parties, to his brand new Caddy for the official auto. And when he gets called to task for it, all of a sudden, he and his wife announce she has depression, so we all have to feel sorry for them,. This guy is a joke, and imo, I don’t think he’ll get elected to a second term. At least, I hope not, lol. I think he’s angered plenty of Dems here too, at least, it sounds like it from reading local papers, etc.
