Society has certainly gone soft. Bruises on thigh and buttocks don’t constitute “severe beating.” - recently as a jurist on a trial the DA said in opening statements the lady had severly beaten her boss; during the trial they showed a cut on his finger that may have been 1/4" long, much less than my daughter gets playing with our cat.

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I’d never want to admit that I was beaten by a woman. As for the cut, I would be embarrassed to even have it noticed, let alone entered as evidence in a trial.
