Inland auto dealer and Republican activist Mark Leggio and three employees were named today in a 37 count grand-jury indictment alleging political money laundering.
The indictment was unsealed during a brief hearing this morning in Superior Court in downtown San Bernardino.
Leggio is the owner of Mark Christopher Auto Center in Ontario.
Leggio and the three other defendants are scheduled to be arraigned July 11. They were each released on their own recognizance.
Leggio is charged with money laundering by reimbursing the employees for contributions they made to Republican candidates, said Senior Assistant Attorney General Gary Schons.
The indictment alleges more than $50,000 in contributions were laundered in six different races between 2002 and 2006.
"There is no evidence of criminal conduct by any candidate," Schons said.
It took only four words before Leggio was identified as a Republican. Had he been a donkey, it would not have even been mentioned.
You got that right!!!

Why, was there a laundry business on the premises?
