“Mansfield's book validates Obama’s attempt-which began in earnest in his 2004 speech to the Democratic National Convention-to provide a compelling public face to the nascent “Religious Left.” In that speech, he proclaimed that “we worship an awesome God in the blue states,”
The Religious Left has about as much in common with Biblical Christianity as does Islam. The god they worship in the blue states is the god of big government and humanism. Babel all over again.
Mansfield has to be a biblical lightweight to be impressed by Obama’s theological vacuity.
The Religious Left concept is one designed to “win” the votes that they cannot get.
Obama played his hand at that meeting in SF that was leaked.
Those who “cling” to religion and guns are those who vote in opposition of abortion and the homosexual agenda (morals even some Democrats take a stand on) and guns are those voters who won’t accept a CHANGing definition of the 2nd Amendment. It wasn’t necessarily the same voters.
It was two blocks that don’t accept compromise on these issues.
The Religious Left tries to shift the argument away from the immorality of certain sexual relationships towards one of big state government IS charity.
They proclaim that it is God’s teaching that we provide healthcare for the poor. And housing. Etc. Etc. Except there is no choice in the charity. It is enforced by law.
And what if your religion is not the Christian charity of the Bible that the Religious Left politicians are trying to cite? Where is the opt out of this State religion?
They want to stand up there and say “we believe in God too and He wants you to support this program...”.
The Religious Right understands that there is Man’s world (government) and God’s world and that we are to honor God’s world while we live IN Man’s world.
The Religious Left is a false construct designed to win the votes of the same people the privately ridicule. Including President Obama...
