WASHINGTON - Liberal Republican presidential candidate John McCain admitted on Saturday it can be difficult at times to be proud of the United States.

“I’ll admit to you … that it’s tough in some respects,” McCain said when asked by a questioner at a town hall meeting how to be proud of the country.

McCain keeps talking to me. He keeps saying this over and over again.

Half - Don't vote for me. You conservatives..... none of you vote for me.

I've been saying it since before tom delay and ann coulter made it in the news about it. I won't vote for McCain.

McCain told us all for 8 years that he didn't want our vote. I suggest you listen to him.

>>”I think we can be proud of America because of what we’ve achieved and accomplished in this world,” he said.

“What we have to do is tell our friends around the world that we will be proud of America because of what we’re going to do.”<<

Oh gee, a REUTERS blog with a misleading headline, yep, I am shocked...

It is an accurate headline - unfortunately.

All of the photos at this link were taken in the U.S., and I am ashamed that the lefty sickness can be seen around the world. Just one example.

I read this short blog entry and I do believe that the headline is misleading because when McCain expanded on the remarks, he is quoted as saying the things I've already posted. It's just a sandbag moment to drag McCain down to the Michelle Obama level, IMHO.

I saw this story, originally, from Reuters. It was a dumb thing for McCain to say, but it’s going to be a long campaign season and the press will seize on every word of McCain’s and try to find and publish them in a way to sensationalize them.

OTOH, anybody see an article about Obama saying he’d bring a gun to a knife fight (in speaking about the battle with McCain.) Of course not, Obama’s their guy and you won’t find them taking his gaffes and making a big deal of it. If McCain had said it, it would be front page with a sensational headline.

The beat from the press against McCain, is probably a good thing. Maybe he’ll get a clue that he’s not their “darling” anymore and start to guard his words more carefully.

But it comes down to this Obama or McCain, and I’m sorry, no matter what McCain says, he’s a heck of a lot better than Obama. (and Barr, well we don’t need to go there.)

Case in point, the recent SCOTUS decision, McCain came out an spoke strongly against it. Of course, Obama embraced it. Do we want Obama putting more judges on the SCOTUS...no way?

So from here on out, whatever McCain says or doesn’t say, I’m not going to let it throw me. He’s in campaign mode and bound to say plenty I don’t agree with (he’s definitely not my “ideal” candidate), but I’m still voting for him in November because the alternative is totally unacceptable (on sooooo many levels.)

Yeah, the drive by media is doing their best to mix the situation up and create havok, however, no real conservative would’ve ever given this gem to the liberal media.

McCain may be a hero for the things he did for our country, but politically he’s a scumbag. The things he stands for and believes are truely dangerous. And his continued pandering to the left and their media is disgusting.

Hahaha, yeah, I added that in there. It seemed fitting.

Call me an illegal journalist. Doing the job that most journalists just don’t want to do. :-)

I agree with you. Obama has a clear advantage; sympathetic media. But McCain said it, and there’s no way around that.

Let me put this another way. Sympathetic media isn’t a threat if you don’t give them gems to work with. Remember, Reagan did what he did back when the lib media had their monopoly. Now, they don’t have their monopoly anymore.

^^^^^^^^^^^But it comes down to this Obama or McCain, and I’m sorry, no matter what McCain says, he’s a heck of a lot better than Obama.^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I hope you can sleep well this november. You will be doing exactly what the blue blood country club liberal rockefeller wing of the republican party wants you to do. They want to turn the conservative vote into the black vote.

We already have one liberal party. We have no need for another. Republicans in general and McCain in particular deserve to lose the conservative vote this year.

When you consider what a lovely and charming man Saddam was and should have never been removed, and how Bill Clinton was sooooo honorable, and how there is zero corruption in the Democratic party, and the Clinton’s wisdom of a “NEW” (Fascist) democratic party called the “Third-Way’ showcased at the Democratic Leadership Council, www.dlc.org, lets all demand a Obama/Hillary ticket so the rest of the world will like us as we kowtow to their every whim!

I prefer option #3.

Let’s tell the so called conservative party to get back to their principles and give us conservatives we can be proud to vote for.
