WASHINGTON - Liberal Republican presidential candidate John McCain admitted on Saturday it can be difficult at times to be proud of the United States.
âIâll admit to you ⦠that itâs tough in some respects,â McCain said when asked by a questioner at a town hall meeting how to be proud of the country.

Jeff Mason and Reuters? I’d get another version of what was actually said before believing this tripe.
McCain is doing everything he can to keep me from voting for him.
Has he lost his mind!???
That’s better?! Gimme’ a break!
Lee Atwater?
It is not “tough to be proud of your country”. It is not “tough in some respects”. It is tough to be proud of McCain:)
McCain is so arrogantly bumbleheaded about this point, he's might get trounced in Nov. because of it!

‘bama must love this posting...
Damned if I do and Damned if I don't!
We are the right wing version of the democrat party's blacks,gays,enviro-wackos,etc.
We will be routinely thrown under the bus since we have no where else to go. There is no down side to running us over time and time again.(until he needs money)
We are the base and as such are charged with maintaining the party as conservative until we can get rid of the rinos. It's not a pretty job but one that desperately needs doing.
I’d like to say a few words in Senator McCain’s defense:
William Jefferson Clinton, two-term president of the United States.
I rest my case.
I cannot see how anyone who considers themselves a conservative, regardless of the way you define it, could vote for McCain. He does not represent the principles of limited government by any stretch of the imagination. For that matter there are very few in the GOP who still do.
The day after our state’s primary my wife and I changed our registration to the Constitution party ending a four generation connection with the GOP. I doubt they will ever get us back.
