GREENSBURG, Kan. (AP) _ Greensburg will be back in the national spotlight next week.

A new cable network called Planet Green will feature the tornado-ravaged community's rebuilding efforts as part of a documentary that will last several weeks.

But Greensburg residents won't be able to view the 13-part documentary about the town's recovery from a devastating tornado because the city doesn't have a cable service.

The show premieres Sunday at 8 p.m.

Planet Green plans invite the whole town to the Greensburg school gymnasium tomorrow for a barbecue and screening of the first episode.

Planet Green has had film crews in town since July 2007, following the town's efforts to rebuild.

In one way one might say they’re lucky. BTW this is Martina McBride’s hometown.

Question: Being that our media sycophants are environmental fanatics, and seeing that Greensburg, Kansas is being rebuilt by environmental fanatics. Does it not raise questions as to why the media haven’t set up shop there, pumped out front page article after front page article touting how Greensburg is blazing a “sustainable” path into the future? It does for me. I mean they’ve got their eco-hands on an entire city with the authority to rebuild it from the ground up in their own image and we hear nary a peep. Don’t you find that unusual? I do.

What does that mean, “rebuilding green?” Don’t you find it unusual there’s not more news on this rebuilding effort and the progress?

I don’t know. Let me splain it like this. The Environmentalist’s, they are in charge of the city now. Does that splain things?

Well, from what I have read, ‘rebuilding green’ means using energy efficient (EnergyStar) rated building materials; recycled materials; building with rooms oriented for southern (more sun exposure). EnergyStar appliances; insulation; solar panels, etc. Maybe the ‘news’ release is the documentary?

The environmental "movement" is all about feeling good about yourself and feeling superior to others. The actual nuts and bolts hard work involved in actually being "green" is boring for the short attention spans of the Left. This is why George W. Bush's ranch in Texas is almost completely off the electrical grid but Al Gore's palatial mansion in Tennessee uses enormous amounts of electricity.

I watched, in disbelief, some of this show last night. The “architect” kept telling the people that what they did in their little town would effect the entire world. If there was ever evidence that environmentalism is a religion, that show is it. I was so disgusted, and having screamed sufficiently at the screen for a solid 15 minutes, I turned it off, looked at my husband and told him we are doomed because these are the people who are in charge now..

I didn’t see the show. I did see promos of it. My impression was that the children were just parroting what they were taught in their little government run indoctrination centers. While the adults were less than satisfied living under the jack boot of the enviro-weenies. Am I safe in assuming this?

What else can you tell me about what you saw? Thanks for the info.

There were lots of townpeople who were portrayed as yokels. They all were older white men, fat with beards and suspenders. Of course, the handsome “green” architect wearing a tight black t-shirt came in to save the day, explaining to them that what they do today will effect the entire world..that the ENTIRE WORLD was watching them. These people lost their lives...and these idiots want to make them feel like they are responsible for everything that happens in the world from here on in? It was preposterous.

Did you get he impression that the towns people were pleased with the progress?

Why haven’t they gotten their cable television back up and running a year later?

Did any of these things come up?

No, that wasn’t the impression the show wants to leave you with. That’s what’s so irritating. See, liberals want it to always seem that they, and only they, can come in and save us from ourselves. It was infuriating. Apparently the Mayor of the town took off as did others. The whole town was destroyed. I don’t think getting the cable back up was really high on the priority list.
