Perhaps youve not yet heard of Larry Sinclair, the YouTube star who attests that in 1999 he shared coke, crack, and hot man-on-man action with Barack Obama sometime between November 3 and November 9 in the Chicago, Illinois area.
As Reasons David Weigel quipped: Which night? Eh, one of em.
Of course theres absolutely nothing to substantiate this D-grade Hustler Letters fantasy knock-off. The only things that Sinclairs story and the fawning commenters on his blog reveal is that an astonishing number of people are willing to believe just about anything, especially if it slanders a politician they dont like.
But it looks like Sinclair is about to grab his moment in the sunhes planning a press conference in Washington, DC next Wednesday where he promises for the first time [to] reveal the corroborating evidence. Cant wait.
Now wheres that going to be? At The National Press Club, of course.
The linkage of Sinclairs seamy-slime to such an august sounding body understandably has people up in arms. Firedoglake, a big-league lefty blog, is encouraging readers to call the club and sign a petition in hopes of getting the event canceled. Please take a moment to ask the National Press Club to check the facts before giving Larry Sinclair a bully pulpit, the petition reads. Even the often too-cynical-by-half Wonkette blog is encouraging its readers to sign on.
The imbroglio hinges on the definition of giving. Its hard to see a similar controversy arising if Sinclair had booked a conference room in a district hotel. But just like that hypothetical hotel, the press clubno matter its vaunted namewill rent to anyone provided they can scrape together the room fee, and if necessary, an additional security surcharge.
I have never known us to deny a room based on content, Sylvia Smith, the clubs president, told CJR. She acknowledges the club has gotten a higher volume of complaints about the event.
So to put highfalutin lipstick on what might seem to be pig manure, it seems we have a conflict of two journalism pillarsthe right to be heard, and the responsibility not to pass on slander. Any thought of backing out? Were getting ready to announce our freedom of the press awards. How embarrassing would that be? asks Smith. Cmon!
That admirable sentiment is mixed up with something else. We have a $14 million dollar business, says Smith, a reporter for The Journal Gazette of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Dues doesnt cover that.
If I were a newsmaker and I wanted to have our own event, this is where Id go, says Smith. Renters get easy access to journalists and a name and location recognized through the city. For an additional feewhich Sinclair seems to have paidthe club will send a press release out over the wire. Thats our business model, says Smith who says the rentals and related services make up a significant portion of the club budget.
Is that an odd racket for an organization thats nominallyand by other deedsa journalistic institution? From time to time, probably. But the die was cast long ago, and renting to all comers (UFO conferences, genocidal regimes, whatever ) is a sure way to avoid accusations of editorializing-by-booking.
Event halls are not news organizations. But with a name like The National Press Club, its not hard to see how people could get confusedand upset.
More media for the Larry
Maybe once Larry gets more publicity, more of Obama’s gay lovers and cocaine pals will show themselves.
LARRY SAYS ON HIS WEBSITE THAT A VERY SPECIAL GUEST WILL ATTEND THE NEWS CONFERENCE TO LEND SUPPORT. HMMMM
WONDER WHO THAT COULD BE?
You would think a rat bast**d like Clint Header would applaud Larry Sinclair. What better way to pump up Democrats than to make sure they know their candidate is a crack-smoking homosexual?
. . . Oh no, wait . . .
I don’t think I could contain my laughter if Larry proves that he and Berry did coke and boned each other in the back of a limo. Larry better guard his life like Fort Knox. Liberal tolerance for gays will go right out the window and he will become one of the only homosexuals the left wants to kill. I’m sure the libs will spin this as a private matter that should stay between Berry and his ice queen wife.

It is also my understanding that a very special guest will attend to provide moral support.

OBAMBI is gonna have to preempt this thing somehow. Expect obambi to have a Press Conference or some sort of “I did not have sex with this MAN” moment, within the next 72 hours...... except this time, unlike Bill, don’t expect the wife to be there.
Lol! That gets my nomination for quote of the week!
The limo driver?
The drumbeat must continue. I have no doubt that Obama is a "down low" homosexual and likes his crack cocaine. I have a feeling the Clintons and/or the GOP have a few "witnesses" holed up somewhere. It's all about timing.
They mean like how the loony left, the Columbia School of Journalism students and staff, and millions of liberals happily embraced and believed believed Rosie O'Donnell’s insane rants about the WTC being brought down by a bomb planted by President Bush and the Federal Government, because they hate president Bush?
It's funny how liberals always accuse others of exactly what they have been guilty of, for decades.
I’m guessing there is a closet full of ‘em.
Gennifer FLowers?
I’m sure Clit is fantasizing about doing the Sinclair with Obama
Ha!
Far more accurate that way
Maybe he’ll seek counseling with Rev. Meeks, er, or Fr. PFagler, er, er or Rev. Jeremiah, ....or maybe Calypso....nevermind
