God bless his family.

He was a liberal, but actually tried to be fair in his job. NBC news now has nothing that resembles integrity.

I haven’t watched Mr. Russert in quite some time, due to my dislike for his “reportage”. But this is a shock and is very sad. He was well loved and respected across the journalistic community, and I’m certain his son and wife are devastated. May he rest in peace.

I watched Brokaw give the announcement on cnbc. He barely made it through without breaking down.

Brokaw was also a class guy and yes you have to wonder who wil replace Russert. David Gregory, Brian Williams and Chris Mathews make me puke.

* I think Lisa Myers still works for NBC News, and she's the one who did the Juanita Broaddrick rape story about Bill Clinton. Myers showed courage and determination in getting that report on the air against a sitting impeached president who views women as his slaves.

* Chuck Todd seems pretty credible and fair on msNBC, and Russert played a major role in getting him on TV.

* Lester Holt, who anchors the Weekend Today Show and the Weekend Evening News on NBC, seems to do a pretty good job.

* Amy Robach and Michelle Kosinski are really fun to look at and don't seem to be overly liberal.

* And then there's Chris Matthews, whose mostly liberal ideology doesn't stop him from unleashing frequent zingers against the corrupt Clintons.

Having said all that, Tim Russert cannot be replaced. His amazingly tough interview of Gore running mate Joe Lieberman just before the 2000 election may have prevented a Gore triumph.

Russert was usually too soft when interviewing Bill and Hillary, but he did ask Hillary some tough questions in the last debate he moderated.

Russert was a very good role model for a lot of the reporters at NBC News. His journalistic and life legacy will live on through some of them.
