McCain has always wanted the Gitmo prisoners cases processed ASAP and then Gitmo closed ASAP.

Okay. I did what you asked -- I read all your posts on this thread.

And I've no doubt we could all agree with the first clause of your statement: McCain (and all of us on this thread) has always wanted the Gitmo prisoners' cases processed ASAP.

Alright. Fine and dandy.

But, then, McCain wants to close Gitmo. Why? And where would he imprison any future captors from then WOT? Or, in his mind, will there be no more?

See, it's not the issue of prosecuting those prisoners who are there now: Interrogate, drain dry, dispose of as necessary.

Instead, the issue with McCain has been "Close Gitmo...and do what?". Are we to stop prosecuting the WOT? Or are we to bring the prisoners to then continental US -- where they might have been subject to the same kind of horseshit SCOTUS decision as came down?

Or do they get renditioned...???

What the hell does McCain propose to do about them?

Duh. McCain the Holy Savior will have won the WOT and brought world peace within days of inauguration, therefore eliminating the need for Gitmo. All with a filibuster proof dem congress.

Thats why we need him!

Fair enough! And thank you for reading what I wrote and understanding that one of the issues is that they should have been prosecuted long ago.

As to what to do with future ones? I am not 100% on where he stands on that but I think he wants them in the prison of Fort Leavenworth. Do not quote me on that though.

I love Gitmo, but do see it as a chew bone for liberals. I don't have the answer for the last part of your question.

Thank you for taking the time to dig back through what I wrote and respond rationally. Have a great weekend. I really do have a cold beer that is getting warm by being on here too much.

If I find out the second part of your question later in the week I'll reply back. It's a good and valid question.

They’ve conducted military tribunals and subsequent executions of unlawful combatants within the U.S. before. McCain voted for legislation that ensured that these terrorists would be classified as unlawful combatants and subjected to military tribunals.
