It’s supposed to crest a foot higher than than the big flood of ‘93. The biggest problem then was that it took out the water plant. Let’s hope they’ve got it better-protected now.

The former boss of the Des Moines Waterworks, L. D. McMullin, ordered an 11 foot wall built around the plant after the '93 flood and caught all kinds of criticism for going overboard. The paper nicknamed it "Fort McMullin."
Nobody's complaining now...

It is far better protected this year. I think they think it is not even threatened.
I really would like a big screen TV. Do you think I could go volunteer and carry one out on my back? Maybe I can find a shopping cart somewhere.
