To answer some questions people have asked:

1) Why does it list Obama’s mother’s maiden name? On my copy (abstract) it lists my mother’s maiden name, not her married name, even though my parents were married at the time. The entry is even titled “MOTHER’S MAIDEN NAME.”

2) Someone asked why it was revised in 11/01 (”Rev. 11/01”). My copy has this as well in the bottom left corner. I can only guess that this is the date this form was revised and updated replacing the previous form.

3) Why is the certificate number redacted? Damn good question. Like I said in a previous post, the entry is in the correct place on the form, but it seems very odd that it is blacked out. The number should be three digits, a space, four digit year of birth, a dash, and then six digits. In other words, it should look similar to this, using Obama’s birth year: “123 1961 - 000123”

4) Why was this released by Kos and not Obama? Another damn good question.

5) Why does he have an abstract and not the original? I have no idea. What I do know is that I requested a duplicate and the abstract is what I got. It is not a duplicate of the original, and I suppose further inquiry with the Health Department would clarify how one obtains an actual photocopy of the original.

6) Why does it list parents’ race? I don’t know why it lists race, but it does.

7) If Obama was later adopted by his Indonesian step-father why is that not reflected on this document? I have no idea. The Hawaii Health Dept may be able to answer a general inquiry regarding what happens in this type of situation.

My conclusion is that the biggest questions about the birth certificate abstract are why the certificate # is redacted and why Kos and not the Obama campaign released this document. All questons relating to Photoshop are totally out of my league so I can’t comment on that, and happily defer to the experts.

It doesn’t matter WHERE he was born. As long as ONE of his parents was an American citizen, and has lived in the US at least one year (five if the father is an alien), he is a natural born American citizen.
