Well let’s see... Everybody pays taxes, even the people in Paul’s district. That’s money going out to.... God knows, Washington doesn’t. Paul is against most taxes but somehow can’t get enough support from the rest of congress to get them reduced. So he does the next best thing: he earmarks a bunch of money to be spent in his district, thus bringing it back from Washington. Sounds like a fairly intelligent plan to me, one that every other congressman uses. If it were a business that had to buy services it’s make sense to buy from those who also frequent your place of business.
Then I'm sure I'll see you on threads about every other congressman's pork giving them the same pass? How about Hillary and her Woodstock museum?
First of all, I most definitely want people to be aware of Baseline Budgeting. It’s one of the scams Ron Paul has fought against.
Secondly, please explain to folks how you’re using a term “earmarking” that is used for more than one thing. There are three places in the budget process where we have earmarking. Don’t try to lump them together.
Thirdly, if a family is deciding whether to spend money on a vacation or not, and a member doesn’t think they should...does that mean that if he’s outvoted, he should have no say in where they go for vacation? Why should Rep. Paul not have any say in the spending of resources that are going to be spent?
Gotta run
You remind me of an old adage from my childhood: “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
