I know I'm making myself a social pariah & perhaps a bigot by openly saying so, but I don't feel the least bit guilty about what my forebears may or may not have done years ago... any longer. The way I see it, we're even.
If enough of us did just that perhaps every one of us will then be held to the same standards when it comes to treating each other decently.

You racists need to understand that this diversity is America’s greatest strength, perhaps even America’s only redeeming value. It has taken this nation from a backwards power that nobody was ever really proud of to its position now as a world leader in education, in entertainment, in size of our correctional institutions.
The cultural standards and behaviors that led these young hyphenated-Americans to beat a passerby to death on a whim are no less valid than your own. It’s the little differences like these make up the rich tapestry of a multicultural society.
