In what might have been his most hawkish speech to date on the Middle East, Barack Obama sought to shore up his shaky support in the Jewish community with a security-first, diplomacy-second blueprint. Compared to the speech given on the same stage just over 24 hours earlier by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Obama clearly positioned himself as the stronger champion of Israel.
What looked like a home run, though, likely will not be, as the candidate sounded a decidedly different note the very next day. Worse, its not the only set of mixed signals that has been sent by Obama.

Obama should just wear a sandwich board each day announcing from which side of his mouth he’s speaking. It would make it easier for everyone to keep up.

Isn’t that what his 20-year spiritual advisor said Obama was doing on the campaign trail, that is, saying what politicians need to say to get elected? Seems Rev. Wright is right about that, anyway.
I think it’s no accident that the Koran teaches the same thing. Tell your enemy whatever he wants to hear to gain the advantage and then squeeze.
