Maybe they just had cabins?
Bump
WOWT in Omaha is where to watch for donation opportunities.
PRAYERS
Apparently had about 12 minutes from the NWS tornado warning.
Sure puts things in perspective, doesn’t it.
Here are some of the details about the facility from the Mid-America Council page:

The Little Sioux Scout Ranch is approximately one hour north of Omaha, Nebraska in Iowa’s Loess Hills. The 1,800 acre ranch is approximately 15 minutes east of Interstate 29 off the Little Sioux exit (#95). Six hiking trails through narrow valleys and over steep hills offer a myriad of views of this pristine, heavily timbered ranch.
Campers have a choice of several mowed meadows, with nearby frost-free water hydrants and latrines or several remote campsites. Four cabin shelters are also available year-round to camping groups. A 15-acre lake is available for boating and fishing. A rifle range was recently added.
The radar shows it west of our place right now but it should be an hour or so before it gets here. I’d gladly give my life for one of those young boys. This has hit me really hard. These families must be devastated. I know a Boy Scouter but I have no reason to believe he would be there and I’m not going to call his mom.
Get to safety...you still matter to your grandchildren and children. Let us know how you are when this is over.
We are all praying!
Prayers up. I hope those scouts were prepared. Courage to their leaders and may everyone remember their first aid merit badge training.
Prayers are with you, EV.
Damn. By the description of the camp, very high probability they were only sheltering in tents.
The narrow valleys may have provided some of them some protection.
possibly sea-huts or tents.
Long time ago, but I only stayed in a cabin 2 times.
Those were my thoughts exactly... What a terrifying image it leaves in one’s mind.
God may need you to help the survivors. Take cover.
You too

Reports of almost 100 boy scouts there at the time. All buildings destroyed.
Very devestating and ominius sounding news at the link.
Oh nooo..
God bless them all.
God love your heart. Prayers to you. Keep safe. All of you Freepers in harms way...keep safe.
Oh my, even worse. I'm mostly familiar with camps where there are cabins and a main hall. And I don't recall those having any basement.
Oh dear...
Prayers...prayers..
