Are Pdf documents for those that do not like those different from standard Pdf files?

I was aboard the USS Gurnard in the 1970’s - we were the first nuc sub to visit Melbourne Australia.

Great trip - despite the anti nuc-wacko’s meeting us.

Thanks.

The issue is currently rendered moot because en route to Hawaii to meet the Kitty Hawk which is being retired...the USS George Washington experienced a fire in the elctrical spaces which injured 24 sailors.

A heroic job of firefighting was conducted which kept serious harm from the vessel or its aircraft, but she is now heading back to port to be repaired and the transfer in Japan has been delayed indefinitely until those repairs are made.

The cause of the fire was apparently electrical, but it spread rapidly because some flamable material was inappropriately stored. Someone's head will roll for that...a section chief or higher for sure.

Wow, shades of “Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers”!

I especially like the cute little sailorman at the beginning - looks like my Daddy when he went into the Navy in 1940...

I’m not so sure about this.

Here is the infamous Japanese Navy recruitment video:

Thanks for the pictures.

One of my former coworkers had served on the USS Forrestal, aka Forest Fire, when an electric spark started one of the deadliest non-combat incidents onboard a US warship. Larry said that it was the most terrifying experience he has ever encountered.

There were a couple of those off of Vietnam with a lot of loss of life and a lot of fire fighting procedure and equipment was developed as a result of those who sacrificed all in those flames and smoke and resulting explosions.

It is a testament to American courage and ingenuity that with such damage both of those carriers survivied...due in no small part to the heroism of those fighting those conflagarations.

An aircraft crrier is one of the most deadly places on earth, particularly the flight deck and hangar spaces. Lots of thigs that go boom all around, and a lot of moving parts that can kill. It is a witness to the good training and good procedures that have been developed over the years that most of the time those operations go off so safely and soundly...but the danger exists just the same.

This fire aboard the Washington puntuates that.

Probably second most terrifying thing McCain ever experienced. He was in the airplane that the loose Zuni missile hit. Nothing quite like being at ground zero!
