I grow artificial flowers. It takes less water and less fertilizer.
Until we start making business owners do the perp walk and hard time in prison for employing criminal slave labor, we’re not going to make substantial headway with this problem. They stop offering jobs to illegals, illegals deport themselves.
Well. I’m just so surprised. Illegals in horticulture and landscaping? Never seen THAT before. I can’t remember the last time I saw an Anglo on a landscaping crew around here.
Y’know, Sarbanes-Oxley basically says that CEOs are personally responsible for their company’s financial statements being accurate, and if not, they can get jail time. So why aren’t these CEOs being held to the same standards when 60% of their workers are illegal aliens who committed identity theft to get their jobs? Perp walk the CEOs and the HR people who turned a blind eye to stuff like this, and maybe we’ll start to see things change.

I included a clip of the local reporter all concerned about how the pooooor illegals are out of work now. Just unbelieveable how our media is ignoring the 283 AMERICANS who had their identity stolen and only cares about the welfare rats who hurt them.
About time to bring back public hangings, as far as I’m concerned.
and found 283 of approximately 500 workers, or one fifth of the agricultural workers in Humboldt county, were using face social security numbers and identification.
Jail for the Sun Valley Group Business owners.....
Identity Theft is a felony.....
Scumbag Democrats in Humbolt county....

Secondly, if the workers supplied SSNs, the company was paying payroll taxes, etc. So unless someone in HR at this company, KNOWINGLY hired illegals and paid them under the table, your indignation is misplaced.
Want to blame someone, blame your government, blame the attorney-general who WILL NOT ENFORCE THE LAW!
Blame Pres Bush who refuses to do what s needed to secure the borders!
yep me too...silk and plastic. all the care i give them is taking a shower with them once a year...
The company is required to obtain an I-9 form from each employee. An employee must show proof that he or she is allowed to work in the United States. This proof is a combination of either a passport, birth certificate, resident alien card or social security card. SSA allows employers to verify a social security number immediately online for free. To say that this company did not know the identities were false is bs.
And yes, the federal government has failed miserably at border security.
Exactly
One other little note. The growing facility is acres and acres of greenhouses located a short bicycle ride from Humboldt State college. Just full of kids looking for part time jobs or summer jobs to help with schooling. High unemployment here. You can’t tell me if this company posted a single flier on campus looking for 8-10 dollar an hour help that they wouldn’t have hundreds of kids out there begging for a job. No, this is another case of a company wanting to do just what they did. Illegals are nice quiet employees.....and the state and county pick up a good share of the cost via social benefits to keep their work force happy. My opinion, jail them. Set an example....oh, and do please ask where your floweres come from next time. 283 out of five hundred....and they claim they didn’t know.
Do you get those from Facebook or something?
There used to be a fact sheet on that site that said they have been focusing more on arrests and asset seizures than fines the last couple of years, but I couldn't find it again. But I did find this response from White House Office of Strategic Initiatives on a comments submitted by a blogger, which says the same thing:
A recent comment displayed a graph showing decreased employer arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the period leading up to 2004 as well as decreased notices of an intent to fine employers by ICE in the period leading up to 2004. It is too bad the graph did not show data going from 2004 up to April 2007 or explain how ICE has redirected their employer enforcement actions to stop levying fines on companies- which were treated by illegal employers as the "cost of doing" business- and instead to focus on criminal prosecutions and asset forfeitures.

What was the last thing Jim Bowie said at the Alamo? "Hey, the yard guys are here!"
And Arcata is about as liberal as a place can get, this side of Beijing.....but I guess ya gotta follow the money.
Humboldt County only has 2500 agricultural workers? Heck, I thought that place was famous for its, uh, agricultural pursuits of a slightly illegal nature...
