WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Dan Boren, D-Okla., said Tuesday he will not endorse Barack Obama for president.

"I still remain very concerned about the (Obama) voting record being the most liberal of the United States Senate," said Boren, a superdelegate to this summer’s national Democratic convention in Denver.

He expressed support for what he described as a "centrist" agenda, adding his party’s presumptive nominee’s record does not reflect that approach.

Dan Boren is Oklahoma’s only Dem Congressman, but he votes more conservatively than many Republicans. He is following in his dad’s footsteps. His dad, former US Senator David Boren—currently president of the University of Oklahoma—refused to vote in lockstep with the Dems, too, and dared to criticize and challenge Bill Clinton.
The Democratic leadership played hardball with David Boren and will probably do so with his son, Dan—but it is good to see at least one Democrat who votes as his constituents want him to vote. He doesn’t always vote with the GOP, of course, but on the major issues, he refuses to buckle under the libs’ pressure.

The Borens are about as good as it gets for the Dem party these days. Not saying much though. BTW, Kerry did not win a single county in OK. Dems have to tread lightly there. Their governor only won back in 02’ because there was a conservative 3d party candidate on the ballot that got 19% of the vote. The dem won by about 6,000 votes.

but on the major issues, he refuses to buckle under the libs’ pressure.

Yet simply by belonging to their party he helps give them the majority in Congress and control of the agenda. This undermines all of your other points and all of his {alleged} views.

He isn’t going to endorse Obama but he is going to vote with the Dems... What does that double talk mean?
