No one speaks for conservatives any longer. We have been totally destroyed by the likes of Karl Rove, Ken Mehlman, John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and George W. Bush.

Overall it's interesting but too cute. Can you cut it down to 200 words? Do you want to have impact. Put the plan out there succinctly.

The rudderless Conservative Movement within the Republican Party is being brow beaten into silence by the Rockefeller Republicans.

This is a total oversimplification. The primaries were a split between McCain, Romney and Huckabee. None are classic "Rockefeller Republicans". McCain is unique. RR's were "fiscally conservative and socially liberal" ie: pro-choice. McCain is anti-abortion. They favor "common sense gun control". McCain is at least ambivelent to that. McCain isn't part of the East Coast Establishment, but Bush is. You didn't hear cry's of "Rockefeller Republican" for Bush II, but he is much more a RR then McCain. Romney has some RR trends, Huckabee a few, but neither is a classic RR.

Time to toss over-simplistic tags and get down to specifics. One thing that was obvious is that there is a lot of disagreement in the Republican party between the Libertarian Wing, The Bussiness Wing and the Social / Religious Conservative Wing. When were were successful we were united around some common ideas. Now we disagree on much. And we are drifting furhter apart.

I'm not sure even Rush can fix that.

Dear Rush, Over the last few months I've tried to call you countless times, but for some reason your line always seems busy

That's because he only has 1 phone line, it's hard to get through.

p.s.

There has never been a bigger gap between conservatives and republicans.

Hope it can get off the ground, but I doubt Rush will want it centered around his ‘personality’ or brand.

I do like they way this guy thinks though!

I have been saying for weeks that we need to start a CNC...Conservative National Committee.

Then we can amass a war chest to support conservatives running for election in 2008, 2010 and 2012.

My fear is that the RNC has pissed off so many conservatives that their war chest will be short, most of the money will go to support Rhinos and conservative candidates are going to be hurt.

Count me in, if this gets off the ground.

On second reading maybe I was taking this too seriously. I see the part about tests on EIB trivia and the Pittsburg Steelers.

Rush keeps being conservative fun, which is part of his charm.

At the same time we don't need more entertainment, we need serious committed movement conservatives with plans to fix things.

Personally I'd love to partake in a meaningful Conservative dialog but I have zero interest in buttering up Rush.

Rush has made a damn good living off of the Conservative base. I don't begrudge him one penny of it, he has in turn done great things for us. On the other hand it is completely clear he doesn not WANT and perhaps is not EQUIPPED to lead us in an actual meaningful political direction.

Operation Chaos is amusing, ha ha ha.

We're losing the Republic. We need serious leaders now, not jesters.

Finally Rush is a polarizing figure who has been demonized in the MSM and that will limit our ability to recruit non-dittoheads to our cause.

Not to mention the screaming idiots who don’t have a cogent, conservative argument between their ears. Don’t expect the Media to do it for you, folks. It’s our turn.

The conquering threat that homosexuality is doing to society and especially our kids goes without mention on these supposed conservative talk shows. Tax cut talk only goes so far. I'm disgusted with Hannity's tip-toeing around the subject, and Rush's brilliance was lost on me with OC.

We currently have no serious leaders at least not nationally. McCain will not get my vote but Are we a part of a second “silent majority”. I cannot Believe Obama is going to be the next pres, thats sarcasm cause it appears he will. I did my part,I helped put republicans in the majority in the house and senate, helped to put one in the white house and what did they do? I am not going to bother to do any more research my head tells me they did squat and what they did do they are currently running away from. I will not vote for the lesser of two evils, maybe it is time to reap what we sow.

I agree. We are sound byte learners. I couldn’t find answers
in bullets or a list. Too much rambling, not enough instruction.

Rush gave simple and specific instructions for Operation Chaos.
The author is asking for simple and specific instructions to take
back our country.

OPERATION CHAOS revealed much on many levels:

1. It was immediately gratifying.
2. It didn’t take a lot of the working man’s time.
3. It was combined with voting - a task we would have done anyway.
4. It didn’t require money.
5. It could be done anonymously.
6. It showed conservatives that they still have power.
7. It created a juggarnaut by unifying us behind a single foe, barrier and purpose
8. It did not help us to define conservatism.

Op Chaos has convinced the dems that they have grown in numbers and voters and that Obama will win. How’s that for an accomplishment? Come November we shall see if we are happy with what has been done.

Rush has made it very clear over the years that he is an entertainer, not a politician. I'm not saying that in a demeaning way; it's just a statement of fact.

I think (this is my opinion now) that Rush is not interested in being in the center of any kind of political movement for two very specific reasons:

1. Rush's long-time message is that conservatives think for themselves and do for themselves. Conservatives in his listening audience "crying out for a savior" are people who want to be led like sheep. Being led by a conservative doesn't make a person any less a sheep! For conservative principles to take hold, then a natural leader (or COHESIVE principled grassroots organization) needs to rise up out of the ranks -- someone who can inspire others to "rugged individualism" in conservatism.
(I didn't quite get this idea expounded properly; I'm still working it out.)

2. If Rush were to become the nucleus of a new political movement -- centered either on him, or on someone of his choosing -- the following things would happen:
2a. As some become disaffected over time (which happens in all movements and belief systems), the finger of blame would point at Rush, rather than at the root of whatever problems exist; and
2b. The MSM and lib accusations of "ONE RICH WHITE MAN TRYING TO BUY POWER / AN ELECTION" etc. would fly as they never have before. Rush would no longer be a commentator or an opponent -- he would be a target to be DESTROYED AT ALL COSTS.

For these reasons, I think Rush wants the grassroots to get themselves organized and fight the good fight. No matter how many believe in conservative principles -- if only one man has the guts to stand in public to denounce the destructiveness of liberalism, and the rest just mill about like sheep, "waiting" to be led, then what's the point? Those sheep don't want to be saved.
