I suspect nowadays you’d never get away with that line that Reg Dunlop said to the Chief’s owner about her son

That was the best line of the movie by far. You’re right though you probably couldn’t get away with it today.

Something like this: “Hey lady, you better watch that kid of yours. One day you’re going to turn around and he’s gonna have a c**k in his mouth.”

Is there a better insult to a parent raising a wimpy, spoiled kid?

Shane, come back, Shane - Brandon De Wilde, chasing Shane, beating him to town on foot only to show up as a coming-of-age lad caught in Hud’s shadow waiting for time to get him as far from Texas as he could go.

Whatever happened to his Hollywood career?

Sorry to hear that. Years ago I was interested in racing and he did well at it. My favorite Newman movie is Hombre.

Brandon De Wilde died in a motorcycle accident in 1972 at age 30.

Ted Kennedy has done considerable damage to the country. What damage has Newman done? His support of figures like Eugene McCarthy was always respectful.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof was a great movie. I’ve been thinking of purchasing it lately and this only heightens my desire to revisit a good old movie. Old movies are the best IMHO.

Well that just followed up what I mentioned. Was he in your face about his support of political candidates? No.

His support of Eugene McCarthy misled millions of Americans.

Not to mention his speaking out against Vietnam, Bush, etc. Also, he has a controlling interest in "The Nation" which is one of the worst mags in the country. They mislead plenty of people today.

Just because someone doesn't yell and scream doesn't mean he's necessarily worthy of respect.

It's the Paul Newmans of the world that get the Ted Kennedys of the world into office to do their damage.

“I wouldn’t wish cancer on anyone”

Cancer is not the worst according to Paul Newman.

The anti gun group he was in charge of said

“Guns are America’s most serious disease”.

Cat On a Hot Tin Roof was a great movie.

It was also bowdlerized to the point of abstraction, which made the sweaty direction look a little silly--there just wasn't that much to get worked up about.

Left, right, or center, politics has had little or nothing to do with his wonderful charity works over the years.

I offer prayers up for this amazing American.
