“unless enough kook conservatives vote for a looser third party kook.”

That’s very possible unfortunately. We got a few of them here on FR.

Let's correct this a bit. From the threads I have watched, the majority of Freepers will not vote for McCain, including Jim. I am seeing 5 or 10 to 1 against McCain.

It is high time that principles count more than party.

If some bomb is dropped, or if arrogant wonder boy Barry self-destructs (see below), she can come back in her nagging mother-in-law voice and say--see, I told you so!

RUSH: In the Washington Post, in a story on Obama meets with Clinton, listen to this by Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray: "Obama said he 'appreciated very much' the statement, and he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation about possible running mates. He said he will neither discuss the selection process nor parade prospects in public," as McCain has. He instructed the media. Oh, fine. I love people that talk tough with the media, don't misunderstand. But who else but Obama could get away with instructing them? They write here, "they have been instructed." He knows they will follow his demand. Can you imagine McCain instructing the media to not cover certain things and them going along with it? Here's what Obama actually said to them that led to this report, Obama instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation.

OBAMA: The next time you hear from me about the vice presidential selection process will be when I have selected a vice president, and if you hear secondhand accounts, rumors, gossip about the selection process, you can take it from me that it is wrong, because we're not going to be talking about it in the press.

RUSH: We're not going to be talking about it. So he didn't use the word instruct, but from that little statement, Jonathan Weisman and Shailagh Murray said, "and then he instructed reporters to dismiss all speculation." So they wrote it up. He didn't even say it; they just took it that way. He admonished the media, and the media doesn't want to be embarrassed, the media does not want to disappoint the messiah, Obama. The other bite, this is just this afternoon in Chicago, 2016 US Olympic pep rally with athletes. This is what Obama said. I think he thinks he's elected already.

OBAMA: In 2016, I'll be wrapping up my second term as president. (cheers and applause)

RUSH: Did you hear any humor in that? Didn't sound like there was any humor in that. "In 2016 I'll be wrapping up my second term."

“I personally would rather have Obama than McCain: that shows you how little I think of McCain. “

You may just get your wish.
And if you do, forget about complaining about what he does on FR.
There likely won’t be an FR.
And I hope you like the gun confiscation laws that the messiah will bring us.

I never could understand why folks will cut off their nose to spite their face.

I know! Doesn’t anyone remember Shirley Chisom? I think she was running in 1972 and was a woman and black. Granted she didn’t get far but it isn’t like this is a “historic first”. That nasty little thing called history you know.

Or Victoria Woodhull running for president on the Equal Rights Party ticket... in 1872. The same party that nominated Frederick Douglass as VP candidate. (Sure, he didn't know he had been nominated.) Even so, I bet ol' Victoria could party like no one else.

It is high time that principles count more than party.

But for each Conservative, given that neither Ronald Reagan or Barry Goldwater were "perfect" Conservatives, there's a threshold where that comes into play. It ends up being an individual choice.

My concern is that a 65% (McCain's recent track record, iirc) ACU rating is still significantly better than Obama's 0%.

Should I, or other Conservatives, accept someone who only agrees with us 60-70% ... or end up in a situation where the Supreme Court and laws (given a Dem President and significant majorities in both houses of Congress) swing pretty far to the Left and can be expected to stay there for at least the next 30-40 years (or well beyond, considering the chunk of FDR's New Deal that still burdens the American Republic)?

Don’t waste your time with these people. They hate McCain so much that they would help elect a marxist as President than vote for McCain.

But your right about what Obama will do. These people will get Obama and they will regret it for the rest of their lives.

I'm going to say this with all the decorum I can muster. Hillary may be liberal, shrill with a touch of arrogance, but I believe she at least has some care for our nation no matter how wrong her policies would be. However, Obama is hateful, racist, stoopidly bafoonic, seethingly arrogant, and anti-American to the bitter core.

There's no doubt in my mind if Obama is elected President, we are going to be so sorry Hillary couldn't hold out.

And we can count on her putting Chelsea up for congress in NY, sooner rather than later.

Yep. I had thought prior to this election that Sweet Chelsea just wanted to stay beneath the radar and drink, smoke, party, and evade the spotlight of politics. But-once she came out of the shadows and began to pimp herself for her mother-especially alongside the serial rapist-I knew either I’d been wrong, or at least plans had changed. I predicted she will pick either New York or New Jersey to run in.

Sorry, not me. Keeping the Clintons away from the WH was my TOP priority, and had been since even before she formally said what all here had known since 2000-that she was ‘in it to win it’. Now we can turn our sights to Obama.

It’s time to grow up and realize that not everyone is going to hold your opinion 100% of the time. But 65% is far preferable to 5%. Not just not hold my opinion but actually display the exact opposite traits to which FreeRepublic and the conservative movement stands for. And according to your figures 45% of the time! LfriggingOL

The immaturity on display here is by those of you without the balls to say the truth and stand up for what you espouse...true conservatism, not a little of it here and there.

Dont get me wrong...Ill vote for the sorry POS but he will not be able to stand there and say he has heard the voice of the people and has a mandate.

He will do the exact opposite of the will of the people because people like you havent made it clear, that hes not what we want, hes just all we have.

Look at his record...he loves the Maverick BS. He thinks standing against us and for the other side makes him a uniter. He will drop you so fast it will make your head spin. Mark my words wise man. Hes the epitome of the bum in "throw the bums out". (snort)

Thank you, faithinchaos.
Why is it that some who call themselves “conservatives” are dumber than a pile of hammers?

Keeping the Clintons away from the WH was my TOP priority,...

If you're inclined to think she's been driven away at this point you better look a little harder.

You've got a groupie fan base out there for Obama who are strong, energetic, who don't give a shinola about facts or what really matters to keep the traditional betterment of America alive. These Obomi worshipers want "change," and it doesn't matter what the "change is. They are ruthlessly grievous.

What, and who has McPita got? A bunch of good old rino country club repubs who don't have a tinkers damn worth of charisma or solid ability to keep America strong. Moderate, weak fense sitters who are scared to go vote in the rain for fear they may melt. In other words, like McPita selfish, elitist, prix!

You better be frighten, because the devil you don't know is much more dangerous than the devil you do.

I heard on Fox today that the Clintons will never have the influence (or some such word) they’ve had before. Doesn’t that sound nice??? YESSSSS.

I can complain all I want about Obama on FR. Do you honestly think the current Repubs are more friendly on free speech (McCain-Feingold, Patriot Act, etc.)?

At least I understand Obama and he is predictable (plus he has a better disposition, temper-wise). McCain will stab us in the back w/o thinking about it: when is the question and over what core principle. Et tu McCain?

She isn’t going to be President, ever. I am still astonished that so many thought she had this in the bag. I mean, this is HILLARY. Did they think all that Clinton fatigue just melted away? And Bill lurching around acting like he’s stoned on something and yelling and cursing the entire campaign hasn’t helped. God what is wrong with him?

She really can’t concede anyway - she has to try and retire her debt. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when they met. I wonder if he promised her anything to stay in or just basically told her she has no choice.

I’d faint if he took her as VP. If he does he deserves what he gets (and that won’t be pretty).

Oh make no mistake, Obama is going to win, probably in a landslide. If all of Hillary’s supporters actually voted for McCain he might have a chance but most of them are simply deluded nuts who probably won’t vote at all.

The country is in trouble, fellas.
