I have a piece of land an oil company is paying me to extract natural gas from. I get a pretty sweet check from it, too. There are people I know who have farms on some of the land, built houses some of the land, (I own only a small parcel of the producing field), so they are literally saying Yes, In My Back Yard, the opposite of NIMBY. Of course, they get a check, but the people who don't live on the producing gas field could still benefit economically by cheaper, cleaner electricity.

I don't know about contaminated drinking water or carcinogens in the farmland, but there were no roads or only gravel roads in this area before the gas well, now they are paved. The site dates back to the 1970's and there has never been an explosion. The real estate prices have actually gone up since people want to live on land with valuable mineral rights, and I have never been able to hear any noise, but I have never gotten close to the well.

Have the protesters ever visited a gas well and/or looked at before/after scenarios, I wonder.

See post # 8.....

As far as noise, all gas wells are free flowing and are completely silent. Even oil wells that are pumped are done so with electricity and only deliver a whisper for someone standing within a few feet of the well.

These people are complete dishonest liars. And they know it.
