Hopefully that will be the last we hear of Oses and Congress together. When Doug Ose retired from the district he used to represent he got his sister to run and despite taping into the family fortune she lost badly and now brother Doug blew another $3 mm. Hee, hee!!!

“...Please take some sort of assertiveness training/charismatic communication training...”

He needs to speak with the same authority he writes with. (Man, can he write and express himself well!) Other than that he’s A+ material politically, and I hate to be shallow about it, but he’s a decent looking guy which helps with public perception.

And I’ve wondered if he’s going soft lately. I thought his recommendations for ballot initiatives in the California primary were not that conservative.

What was his recommendation. 98, or 99?

That’s good news. Hopefully, it’s a fairly safe GOP seat. He’d be great in Congress.

"There are lots of conservatives in California, just not in public office."

At this point, that is an assertion not supported by the evidence at hand:
Proposition 98 went down in flames. That one was a no-brainer for conservatives, and land owners of any stripe.

McClintock was a very strong voice for “Yes on 98, No on 99”

*one of the few conservatives in California*

3 of our 5 congressmen in San Diego are great conservtives
Duncan Hunter, Brian Bilbray and Darel Issa.
For a County of over 3 million and all types not to bad.

He did run for the House in 1992, but he lost thanks to Ross Perot and the Clinton Republicans - it was a bad, bad year all around.

Yes I remember that year all too well. I was referring to 1986, when congressperson Fielder decided to run for the US Senate. Tom was the assemblyman from that area and probably would have won the House seat. By now, he could have been a committee chairman or even Republican leader. Oh well, better late than never.

That was Bobbi Fiedler. The story has been spun as a hit at Tom by his opponents over the years, but I've personally never been able to figure out why it bothers them all so much.
