There was a patient at the hospital where I did my psych clinical who was very stable on lithium, but had no coverage for the $70 a month to test her blood levels, so was put on a different bi-polar med that didn’t require monthly tests - presto! repeated psych admissions at 5-10K, on the taxpayer’s dime.
