I think every parent would do well to remember that any child’s life might be cut short at any time. Having a healthy baby doesn’t mean you’re home free. Parenting isn’t for people who have to play it safe.

If it looked like every child they’d have would have this horrible, life threatening if not fatal condition, I can understand choosing to abort than give birth and lose. Easier not to see a dead child, only a silent sonogram.

Easier still to use birth control or get her tubes tied. If the condition is that much of a crap shoot (and it appears that it is) why is she putting herself and her children at risk?

'I still struggle to believe just what he has fought through. Now he's here I wouldn't change it for the world.'

It amazes that so many see that at one time she tried to murder her baby, but fail to see the change of heart she has.

Is it possible that this child will have a stronger advocate mother, now that a living miracle is in front of her? She now knows what it is to unconditionally love someone.

Why does no one rejoice not only for the life of the child- but also the life of the mother?

I believe my fellow posters despise, as I do, her prior mindset and others like her. It took a screw up in her plans to help her see the light. Perhaps it was a miracle. I would like to think so. Hopefully, she uses the experience to influence others not to kill their babies as she tried to do.

I was 8wks into my pregnancy when I lost my baby and to this day I still mourn that baby! Those women who have terminated those babies will regret it for their entire lives. Don't let them fool you that they'll get over it...GUILT will always follow them till they breathe their last breaths

I also despise that mindset. But I rejoice at the change even more.

“Easier still to use birth control...”

Didn’t bother to read the story, did you?

It's so easy to sit here and judge someone. Have you ever lost a child? Then had another one, only to discover that that child's life could be cut short at any time? No? Then judge not.

Beared repeating -

I imagine their thinking wasn't only their personal suffering of loosing a child, but the thought of the suffering and/or death of the little one if brought to term. A terrible situation to be in - and unless someone has been in it - they should STFU

Finally, somebody that has read their Bible! Thank you for taking the time to teach instead of letting the ignorance pass on. I have every right to judge, I just better not have a log in my own eye. In fact, we are commanded to judge sin. How many times have I been told not to judge homosexuality, fornication, thievery, etc. Of course I can tell someone it's wrong to murder! I am not the judge of their soul however, because they may repent and be saved without my knowledge, just as the thief on the cross believed in his last moments and was saved. Had I just looked at the fact that he was a thief, how was I to know his fate?

Now if someone can just point me to the verse explaining that God helps those who help themselves. I always thought He helped the helpless.

Are you assuming she didn't so love her first little one that died from the condition or her other child that suffered from it?

I did. Telling a journalist "but I was on the pill" and taking the thing correctly are not the same thing.

Parenting isn't for people who have to play it safe.

Bears repeating. There are no guarantees. An unborn child may be perfectly healthy, as may a newborn. Through birth injury, disease, or accident, that perfectly healthy baby can become a special needs child. You don't get to send him or her back, or quit because it's too hard. In for a penny, in for a pound.

God must have something very special in store for this child. First, she got pregnant while on the pill, then he survived an abortion (still trying to wrap my head around how in the world that happened - 2 fertilized eggs, maybe?).

Anyway, glad this child had a chance. I hope it all goes well for him in the future.

Thank you. You articulated it much better than I did.

You can see it in the expression on his face. This is one determined kid.

when Finley's mother, Jodie Percival, became pregnant while on the Pill, she and her fiance Billy Crampton, 35, made the agonising decision to abort

Wonder if these two have a ring and a date.
