Three seniors at Bloomington Kennedy High School will not be allowed to walk in their graduation ceremony after driving to school with confederate flags flying from their trucks.
Seventy-five other students showed up at the school Wednesday morning to protest the action taken by the school against Justin Thompson, Joey Snyder and another student.
"I figured, you know, were seniors, its the last day of school we didnt mean any offense by it," Thompson said.
Added Snyder: "We didnt look at it as racist or anything."
But school officials feel that flying a confederate flag violates the schools student conduct policy. The students have been suspended from all school-sponsored activities.
"We are responsible for the 2,000-plus students that attend this school," said Rick Kaufman, of Bloomington Public Schools. "The very nature of what they did had the potential to create a very serious situation."
Students disagreed.
"They werent trying to hurt anybody, they just had it on their cars. Its just freedom of speech" said Landin Lind, one of 75 students who chanted Let Them Walk at the school Wednesday morning.
"I feel it was a racist move, but I feel that they were just kidding around," added student James Granberry, who supports the students. "I didnt really take offense to it."
School officials added that theyve dealt with some racism issues at the school recently, which is why they are taking the incident so seriously.
All three students will still receive their diplomas.
How about you tell us how your version of Ebay shows completed auctions within the last three years, when everyone else's only shows auctions completed in the last 15 days link
So, what are you going to say when I come up with scans of the book, as soon as I go out to my garage and dig it out of the box?
Old Abe was just advocating his "White Supremacy". Besides that, Lincoln was elected due to his support of BIG government (Whiggery/liberalism), corporate subsidies, and protectionist tariffs.
Wow, some 4 MILLION blacks in the South, and you believe that only 20,000 were of military age (18-49)? Less than 1%? Bwahahahahaha!
Even if he was I wouldn't think that would bother confederate supporters since your whole society was based on that concept.
Besides that, Lincoln was elected due to his support of BIG government (Whiggery/liberalism), corporate subsidies, and protectionist tariffs.
If that were true then how do you explain his wins in agricultural states, which would have been harmed by tariffs and corporate subsidies?
You need to stop laughing and go back and read Stand Watie's asinine claim, made in reply 92. He claimed there were 100,000 to 150,000 free blacks in confederate ranks. Even someone as factually challenged as you would have to admit that there weren't 4 million free blacks in the confederacy. There were, in fact, only about 130,000. Of those maybe 20,000 were of miltitary age? So...did every one of them enlist 6 or 7 times?
FWIW, I fly the Stars and Bars during the month of February, have for years. No comment has ever been made but I am sure most folks don’t get it.
PITY that you aren't HONEST enough to admit what Dr Blackerby said in his book is FACT!
free dixie,sw
The truth is that you're a flaming idiot. The truth is that there were barely 150,000 free blacks of all ages and both sexes in the entire South, so your insane claim that 150,000 served in the rebel ranks is a bald-faced lie. The truth is your claim that Blackerby said as much in that silly little book of his is completely false. The truth is that you wouldn't know the truth on anything if you stumbled over it in the dark. The truth is that you cannot show any evidence to support any claim you make because everything you post is imaginary. Seeing as how you don't think I know the truth and all.
PITY that you aren't HONEST enough to admit what Dr Blackerby said in his book is FACT!
Because it is not in his book and it is not fact.
fwiw, i have requested BLACKS IN BLUE & GRAY from Interlibrary Loan & will POST the relevant pages when it is in my hands- - then you can TRY to LIEV your way out of it.
laughing AT you.

Then test me. Give me a page and paragraph and I'll tell you exactly what it says. I gave the number of pages, I recited the chapter titles, how could I do that if I didn't have a copy before me? I will do anything you want me to do to prove I have a copy, but I cannot put words into it that aren't there. And had you ever read the book to begin with you would know Blackerby never made the asinine claim you say he did.
fwiw, i have requested BLACKS IN BLUE & GRAY from Interlibrary Loan & will POST the relevant pages when it is in my hands- - then you can TRY to LIEV your way out of it.
I will continue to leave the LIEVing to you.
He hopes to drag this out for six - seven years claiming that “the book hasn’t arrived in the mail yet” or that you’re as myopic as he is.
Some things never change...
I thought you claimed Lincoln freed them all. So now you're saying he didn't?
Fact is most of Northern society was based on slavery and the slave trade. Yankees were real keen on sailing to Africa to enslave them by the boatload. Massive yankee fortunes were made on the backs of slavery and the trade.
If that were true then how do you explain his wins in agricultural states, which would have been harmed by tariffs and corporate subsidies?
His oft asserted desire to keep the territories free from blacks, his desire to bribe voters by promises of free land? Many a yankee detested the thought of sharing the continent with blacks so a vote for Lincoln was a vote for a lily-white west..
I thought you claimed that Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation was a fraud? Don't be any more of an ass than usual. Were there 150,000 free blacks of military age in the confederacy during the rebellion or weren't there?
As opposed to all of Southern society? You forget who it was buying those boatloads of slaves, and all those Southern fortunes built on their backs. Kind of hard for you to take the moral highground when your own hands are as dirty, if not dirtier.
His oft asserted desire to keep the territories free from blacks, his desire to bribe voters by promises of free land?
Oft asserted? Let me guess, you were the crowd estimator for the Million Man March a few years back, weren't you?
It's true that the South wanted tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of blacks in the territories...so long as title of ownership for all of them was in someone's pocket. Again, kind of hard to find any sort of moral high ground in your complaining under those conditions.
The why did the Homestead Act of 1862 include free blacks?
Could you post the sources he used to write the book?
Blackerby? He lists a little over 3 pages of sources so I won’t list them all. The first one listed is “The Soldiers Story of his Captivity at Andersonville, Belle Isle, and Other Confederate Prisons” by Warren Lee Gross. The last one is “Your’s Till Death” by John W. Cotton.
First one was Warren Lee Goss, not Gross. Sorry.
Thanks N-S
