Mike Ciresi tells reporters he hasn't ruled out a return to the DFL Senate race he dropped out of nearly three months ago.
Ciresi, a wealthy attorney, says he's been getting a lot of calls from around the state, and has kept "intense interest in the race."
Ciresi's comments came after one of his prominent supporters, Democratic Representative Betty McCollum, criticized a Playboy column by DFL Senate candidate Al Franken. Last week, McCollum had called that 2000 column offensive, and said it was a serious political problem for Democratic candidates this year.
Franken remains the favorite to win the nominating convention this weekend. But Ciresi could decide to challenge Franken in the DFL primary.
Franken campaign spokesman Andy Barr noted that Ciresi, when he was a candidate, had said he would not run in the primary without the party's endorsement.
They knew he couldn't defeat Norm Coleman and Ciresi is their only hope. Especially with Jesse sniffing around..........
This could get interesting.
This just got interesting.....

Ciresi is the guy who sued tobacco companies and made millions. Joe Public is paying lots more for a pack of smokes because of this guy and they aren’t forgetting him.
It could be that Al Franken pulls a Torccelli.
You’ve done your homework...
This will be VERY interesting....
As predicted.
We need Franken to be the nominee here, or Coleman will lose (unless the blockhead Jesse Ventura gets in).
