I hate to sound like a defeatist, but I think the republicans and conservatives are going to be fighting just to gain some seats back in the house and senate. Its going to be an uphill battle these next couple of years. I have a feeling we are going to need to re-organize and fight off the mistakes of the Obama presidency in order to win back the WH and congress. I hate to say it, but our biggest mistake was not just killing Saddam Hussein with a missile strike. We wouldn’t have such a bleak outcome to this if President Bush had listened to his military advisers and sent in the Rangers/Delta force to seal off the Tora Bora region. We would have had the AQI leadership. Our adventures into Iraq— all though becoming more and more successful are going to cost us a political defeat and squander any good our troops have accomplished these long hard 5 years. Get ready to assemble folks and dig in.
I have been saying that for a while. This was is a mess, and until republicans realize that, they will continue to lose.
We took hard stands that have almost been removed via the housing crunch, crackdowns, and high petrol. Our best candidates are not on the table because of this issue. It won’t be a player in this election. Consider it a punishment almost, on all of us. Flame On

Tora Bora used the same tactics that had been successful all over Afghanistan. That OBL escaped is just the vagaries of war.
If conservatives lose because GWB did the right thing, so be it. The nation is actually getting about what it deserves for turning their back on him anyway.
