With all the changes in the automotive world, there's never a shortage of crazy ideas floating around.

Fortunately for car enthusiasts, many of those wacky ideas actually see the light of day -- and we've got the 10 best for you right here.

snip

Siler says the hybrid and "green" car revolution is here to stay, but that the supercar market is a niche one and there'll always be someone willing to shell out big bucks for an exotic ride.

With that in mind, here are 10 of the most outrageous, extravagant, or just plain cool autos to look for in the coming year, from green car to supercar and beyond:

Lamborghini Reventon

To start off, here's the car that you absolutely can't own, no matter how much money you're willing to spend. Only 20 of these fighter jet-inspired supercars will be made, and they've already sold at over $1 million a piece. Still, it may be one of the most talked-about exotic cars of the past year, and is certainly worth keeping an eye out for on the roads.

....I like it!!....that’s a very cool looking Hummer....I hope they produce it, although GM says today that they could sell off the Hummer Division as well as closing down some truck/SUV production....this whole gasoline spike is unlike anything in my experiance.

It is the perfect city car for a single or a couple. But those of us who live where it is rough...

Hard to picture myself driving that down an cow path in the brush looking for quail. Where would you put your shotgun?

Until you get sandwiched between that Ford F150 and the Hummer.....

If anyone gets sandwiched as such, you're pretty well screwed. (Trust me, I'm a newschopper pilot, and I was just over a fatal wreck where a Suburban was cut in half, LENGTHWISE.)

The smart got a top crash test rating from the insurance industry, and USAA's rate to me is reflecting that. I live in an urban environment, and this is the ultimate urban car. It's certainly not for everyone in every place.

P.S. Remember also that many SUV's often have extremely poor crash test / rollover results and insurance premiums for them are reflected likewise.

Dream on. The simple physics of a collision is going to result in the majority of the energy being transfered to the smaller vehicle. Since that pop can is WAY smaller then a number of other vehicles on the road, be my guest and drive it all you want, but don’t kid yourself that you aren’t going to take a hit in safety if you get in a collision.

Mileage? Hmm... it's red!

I didn't buy it for the mileage, but if you must must know, I get about 34 in town, and have gotten 48 on the highway at 70+ mph.

the majority of the energy being transfered to the smaller vehicle...

Only so much of the NRG will be absorbed by the collapse of some of the smaller vehicle's structure. The rest will be absorbed by the human inside said vehicle.

It's a bit safer than a motorcycle.

I see one on GA 400 every so often. I’m sure the design is fine, but it looks unstable to me - like its going to fall over. I wouldn’t drive one of those things if you gave it to me.
Besides, if you are ever in a accident with anything bigger than a motor scooter, you’re going to be the first one there...

That will result in the load "pop" sound one hears at impact.....

I guess it’s why someone called it a pop can.

Those things are all over Europe. Looks like a smart choice (no pun intended) in the right situation.

Me? The road that leads to my ranch has potholes bigger than that.....
