Barack Obama's loyal legion tried. The story the boys on the bus want is for Hillary to throw in her crying towel today, at last the last day of the primaries. The symmetry and poetry of it all would bring a tear to any scribe's eye. Everyone is eager to pop the corks on the bubbly.
Hillary can laugh last tonight even if, as expected, Democrats in South Dakota and Montana give their hearts, hands and votes to the man whose camp followers call Precious. (Some of them, to be even more respectful, call him Mr. Precious.) She has only to stay in the race, such as it has come to, to turn the poetry to doggerel, at least for one more day.
Even Bubba, who try as he might can't restrain himself when he finds an opportunity to talk about "Big Me," wandered off message with a mournful valedictory or maybe it was a benediction at a whistlestop somewhere out in the Badlands. Naturally it was all about him. "I want to say," he said, "that this may be the last day I'm ever involved in a campaign of this kind. I thought I was out of politics, till Hillary decided to run. But it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to go around and campaign for her for president." He stifled himself just before saying, "You won't have Bill Clinton to kick around anymore." Somewhere out in the graveyard at San Clemente a ghost, barely recognizable behind a fierce 5 o'clock shadow, chuckled with a little appreciation.

No, it’s not, and that’s the point. McCain is tolerable, barely. I think he’ll move a bit to the right to solidify his base in the Republican Party. Still, voting for him is much more about voting for the (far) lesser of two evils, rather than voting for an ideal Republican candidate.
I think McCain should keep that fact well in mind - hence the slogan.
“If Hillary is elected president, we’ll have a four-year disaster, with Republicans ferociously opposing her, followed by Republicans zooming back into power, as we did in 1980 and 1994, and 2000. (I also predict more Oval Office incidents with female interns.)

I don’t buy this at all. If McCain wins, we’ll have a split government that will not accomplish much - possibly the ideal outcome given the ideologies of the major players, and given the alternatives.
If Obama/Clinton wins, we’ll have a unified Dem government that could very well do as much damage in four years as would have been done in the average twenty years. ESPECIALLY including SCOTUS nominees.
So, as I said originally, it is just simply wrongheaded thinking to decide that it’s “OK” if the Dems win this time. It’s not!

From the title, I thought this was an article about Frank Lautenberg winning the Dem primary in NJ yesterday........
Personally, I think I'd rather vote for Cthulhu. As a tagline I've seen wandering around here says, “Why vote for the lesser of two evils?”
OTH, that would be Hillary, wouldn't it?
I do wish McCain would select and announce his VP. Maybe then I could quit dithering.
