House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) confirmed that he will endorse Obama on Tuesday. What is with all the 'committing to commit' and 'announcing I'll announce' statements these days? Mostly Dem politcos, but some Republicans are prone to it as well.

What is with all the 'committing to commit' and 'announcing I'll announce' statements these days? It's a way of hedging one's bets. It _is_ annoying. The prospect of nominating Obama seems to evoke a neurotic reaction from the superdelegates.
