Trying to kill rent control was the kiss of death for 98.
It seems to me like greed and bad judgement on the part of the people who wrote the proposition. (I don't mean greed for money--I mean greed to get everything they want.) In fact, such bad judgement that it might almost be deliberate sabotage.
There's a law that says a proposition can only address one issue. I know, there's rationalizations that say that eminent domain and rent control are really the same issue, but come on....
