I’m sure everyone in that church will vote for him.

I posted this, the story linked by Drudge. Thought it useful for comment. Notice how the aides sound confused. And how does one “resign” from a church over days of time? Was there some kind of long exorcism procedure?

“..Obama made it clear he wasn’t happy with the comments - in which Pfleger pretended he was Clinton crying over “a black man stealing my show” - and said he was “deeply disappointed in Father Pfleger’s divisive, backward-looking rhetoric, which doesn’t reflect the country I see or the desire of people across America to come together in common cause.”..”
So why stay for 20 years and who is stupid enough to believe you did not know what was said there?

ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - Barack Obama has resigned his 20 year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and more recent fiery remarks at the church by another minister. Unfortunately for Obama, it was not 'God Damn America' which drove him over the top, but when the Reverend Wright referred to Obama as a typical politician. What a self-centered dweeb.

The MSM just breathed a big sigh of relief. They don't have to talk about it anymore. It is like he was never even there.

What a stunt of political gimmickery! What’s next? Is he going to divorce Michelle or is he going to return to the Mosque?

Change, that’s what Obama’s bringing, change of church, change from previous comments, change from previous associates... Gosh, look how much this campaign has changed Obama, and think how much he could change the country if elected! Obama, Change!

Too darn late! Obama sat in that church and listened to the racist, anti-white rhetoric for twenty long years and now that it has become a political liability, he wants to denounce it. Well, when the Republicans release the tape of Michelle Obama, at the pulpit in Trinity Church of Christ, shouting Whitey this and Whitey that, is Obama going to renounce her, too?
Rush says that there is such a tape and that it is being held on to until after Obama gets the nomination.

As txrangerette reported elsewhere, he many only react when he perceives Wright, Pfleger are attacking him obliquely.

Not once in my conversations with [Reverend Wright] have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect. He contains within him the contradictions -- the good and the bad -- of the community that he has served diligently for so many years.
I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother -- a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.
These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love.

And how does one resign from a church over days of time? I didn't know you needed to 'resign' from a church. I thought all you had to do was quit going and join another one and have your membership transferred. I guess when you are running for president you need to publicize it. /s
It won't work, Obama. We already know you are a racist. 'Resigning' won't fix that.

He might have taken a few days to write a letter withdrawing his membership.
He might have tried talking to his former buds there and ask them if they’re going to keep up these tirades and got no satisfaction.
He might have asked the priest to apologize specifically to Hillary for the exact words and mocking act he directed at her and got no satisfaction.
He might have taken a few days to make up his mind once and for all. Or to jot down some thoughts on a yellow legal pad as to what he was going to say in public when this was announced...
Who KNOWS what they mean by resigning over the last few days??

How DOES one resign from over the last several days:
Wednesday — resigned just a little bit.
Thursday — resigned a little bit more.
Friday — resigned to a larger extent.
Saturday — really, really resigned — for good — maybe.
