I understand this is expecting too much skill from the AP, but wouldn't the proper description be he "lived" (past tense) at the camp? That is, unless the AP is suggesting he's dead except for when he's within the confines of the camp...and then he's some sort of undead...and in that case, perhaps that'd be a more interesting story.
And the part about the armored personnel carrier is obscure. It's the weekend so I guess the most experienced editor/translator is sipping lemonade or fabricating IEDs or something.
