ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — In recent years, the Trump Marina Hotel Casino has been wasting away in Atlantic City's ultra-competitive casino market, searching for its lost shaker of salt, if you will.

Now, it's about to be reborn with a tropical theme under new owners who are bringing singer Jimmy Buffett's "Margaritaville" brand to the Northeast in hopes of reviving a property that had become as listless as the hero of Buffett's hit song.

Coastal Marina LLC, an affiliate of Coastal Development LLC, said Thursday it is buying the casino from Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc., the casino company founded by real estate magnate Donald Trump.

Of course "Margaritaville" is everyone's favorite Buffett song but I recently came across a live version of Buffett singing CSNY's "Southern Cross".

That is my new favorite Buffett song.

Did Buffet buy this place or is he just franchising the name to the buyers? I think he’s too smart to blow $316 on a casino in Jersey.

I like Jimmy, except for his leftist politics. His restaurants are not very good and appeal to Parrotheads only. Probably a bad idea.

Gee, a few number one songs and he can afford a 316M mortgage!

I should have read the whole article. Buffet isn’t buying the real estate. He’s doing a joint venture on the biz under the Margaritville banner.

They (Margaritaville Holdings) will be involved throughout the design and development of the project,” Leonard said.

Margaritaville Holdings is also involved in a casino project being built in Biloxi, Miss., by Harrah’s Entertainment Inc., to be called the Margaritaville Casino Resort

Come Monday. That’s a smooth ride. I think that might be Mrs. Eagle’s fave Buffett tune.

I think only one number one song.

But he parlayed that into being in the top ten money makers on tour just about every year since 1976.

He puts together a great band and puts on a party every night.

His politics aren't even that bad, though definitely leftist. Basically, he wants to save the manatees and other cute animals. Not exactly Che.

I like his music a great deal because of its escapist themes, which is what he is really selling. If he had to survive based on his singing and guitar playing abilities, I am afraid Mr. Buffet would starve.
