Leave him alone. He wrote a book. It is true or untrue, accurately reported or not. If not, this will no doubt be revealed. It is honestly meant and presented, or not. Look to the assertions, argue them, weigh and ponder.
That's my first thought.
When I finished the book I came out not admiring Mr. McClellan or liking him but, in terms of the larger arguments, believing him.

Although Noonan hasn't had any love for the Bushes ever since it became obvious to her that both father and son had sold out the conservative movement, she's always been a straight shooter, able to distinguish between conservatives and those who masquerade as conservatives, especially Bush/Rockefeller/country club Republicans.
On this Noonan is right: The book is written. Judge it on the merits of the evidence, not on whether or not you think MacClellan is a traitor.
Moreover, if it's necessary to hang Bush out to save conservatism, so be it. And, save your tears for someone who actually deserves them. He was perfectly willing to hang out conservatives to advance his fortunes. If the shoes now on the other foot, that's just how the game is played.

E. Cartman says: “Although Noonan hasn't had any love for the Bushes ever since it became obvious to her that both father and son had sold out the conservative movement.....”
As a lifelong Conservative and political junkie, I have always believed Bush41 and Bush43 are political centrists.
I expected them to sell out secular Conservatives, and they did.
As for Noonan, I've never known what to make of the woman.
She has a gift with words but nothing to say.

Both in her writings and in her television appearances, Peggy Noonan comes off as someone who chooses her words with great care and deliberation. Were she a deep thinker, one would be impressed. She has a gift with words but nothing to say.

I read one book of hers, “When Character Was King”, and it seemed overly saccharine and smarmy to me. I used to read her columns, but this...
Just my opinion.
