I'm not sure what I'd classify Poison as -- pre op trannies playing hair metal? Motley Crue wannabes?
I’m sure glad you mentioned that! I saw that episode on his show too. I’m so surprised that it hasn’t been mentioned on FR by anyone before! He also does shows where he has US Marines on stage with other members of his backup band. He also invites military members in the audience to come up and sing with him, and those in the audience as a whole.
Other old rockers from the past that are big supporters of both the current military and veterans are Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad and Paul Revere from Paul Revere and the Raiders. There is Ozzy Ozbourne too. Probably many others are too, but those are a few who come to mind!
OOps, I just remembered Ted Nugent! I thought of him just after my other post. Ted Nugent is on my list too!
Glam Rock: 80s phenomenon that included Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella.
Glitter Roack: 70s phenomenon that included David Bowie, Slade, the Sweet, and Gary Glitter.
Kiss is the bridge between the glitter rock of the early 70s and the glam rock of the 1980s.
The Dolls were great, but I prefer Johnny Thunders other group, The Heartbreakers:
LOL. I love that Geico commercial with him in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Em-b0wQzQ-0
80s (and 70s...and 90s...and even now...) Rock and Roll Ping!
Poison was the DEFINITION of Hair Metal, Glam Rock, 80s Excess, whatever!
While not the most talented band out there, they do what they do well, and have fun doing it.
Furthermore, they don’t take themselves too seriously, either.
They also put on a great live show even today.
I think so.
” The first was in the early 1960s when she went as a 10-year-old to see Paul Revere and the Raiders in her home state of Alabama. “
That’s one band I would have never imagined a black girl going to see .
I saw Rush and Kiss open for Blue Oyster Cult at Bucknell in 1975. My head pounded for three days. Seriously. My head was throbbing so bad it made me sick to my stomach.
Man, she needs to knock back some shrooms and get to a Dead concert.
Do her a world of good.
That’s not glam, that’s hair metal. Glam has a much older history dating back to T-Rex, and Warner’s answer to KISS Angel. Kiss is glam metal. Always was always will be.
Out of curiosity, I checked AllMusic.com and both descriptions are listed for (the) Sweet. As a side note, two of the four band members are since deceased.
