One can be an anti-Semite and still be rationally cognitive. The difference between the anti-Semite and other people is that hatred of Jews is a part of the individual's identity. Its a statement that teaching people about love and brotherhood unfortunately has still not cleansed the dark side of human nature. All we can do is defend ourselves as as best we can against it.

Could it be that man has evolutionarily acquired behavioral predispositions?

Could it be possible that as an armed social carnivore - man just might have predispositions towards in group amity and out group enmity? Other social carnivores do, because such behavior prevents the formation of groups so large that they kill off the prey base.

This article surprised me. I had expected shallow ranting, larded over with a thin glaze of psychobabble. Instead, I found serious scholarship.

If one accepts the concepts as true (and I do) there is a large helping of food for thought, about Islam/terrorism/antisemitism, and why it is so ineradicable.

I believe that the same psychodynamics occur in other situations. In fact, they occur right here, on FreeRepublic. Unfortunately, they didn't tell us how to deal with this mindset in those with whom we may disagree.
