Sadly, I think you’re spot on about the horribly tough times coming. Maybe then people will start waking up. The vast majority of this country is 8 (or thereabouts) paychecks away from ruin. And we’re almost at the tipping point where move voters are net consumers of government largesse than contributors. Which is the best argument I can think of for something akin to Fair Tax.
The Fair Taxers would be wise to get on board a FLAT TAX bandwagon and cite RUSSIA as an example.
Generally it only takes a few percentage points to make a big difference in the outcome. There were significant votes for McCain that did not come from the party. Whether or not that put him over the threshold I don’t know.
It doesn’t really matter now. He’s the Republican nominee.
People including Rush seem to forget that all
elections are really local.
If on a local basis we do not push and support
people that are honest, moral and conservative,
we get what we deserve.
We are left with the choice of the lessor of two evils.
Thank you! So many here are just so delusional! They think that us (a minority) should by some dictatorial proclamation, state who the candidate should be. They blubber and get angry like little babies when the choice they wanted didn't occur, after a nomination process that followed the rules and has been in place for that last 100 years... It's just really pathetic.
No he's not!!! The enemy within is much worse than the enemy you know. McPita can destroy conservatism within the party and that is only BAD for Republicans. Moderism/Rinoistics is the worst thing that can happen to the RNC and it's happening at this very moment.
Conservatives either get off their ass and do something, or be disgorge by these rino obtusers!
In reality, "we" is a very dis-unified group. While "we" can unify against McCain, "we" can't unify for anyone.
This dis-unification of "we" applies not only to picking the GOP nominee, but also to many, many issues.
No, we can’t. McCain won the primary. He’s the nominee. It doesn’t matter how much we want to blame indepedents, liberals, and Huckabee, we’re stuck with him.
And who are you going to replace him with? Recall the last Republican the grassroots thrust onto center stage was Fred Thompson, a man who had no real burning passion to be there. And it showed.
McCain held up through the battle (somehow). He’s going to be the nominee, plain and simply. I’m not happy with it, you’re not happy with it, but that’s who the squishy moderates in New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Florida voted for.
I do get a laugh about how so many people were excited about a “real conservative” state like South Carolina was voting...and who did they choose? McCain.
So if the “real conservative states” are choosing the guy, who are we not to?
McCain cool-aid drinkers spouting the RINOpublicans lines that not voting McCain is supporting Obama are laughable.
If sh+tbag McCain wants my vote all he needs to do is move right f center.
Screw McCain.
I wouldn't take that as fact either.
The most effective vote is with selective application of your wallet and by voting conservative down ticket. Let McCain’s traitorous carcass spin in the wind. Let the GOP die from the affliction of stupidity it is completely infected with. Let the ashes heap up and be prepared to sweep up and re-build from the ground up.
Exactly right!
Did “we” really get a chance? While Nancy Pelosi preaches that Rush Limbaugh is a criminal and that his “Operation Chaos” was an illegal activity because it encouraged Republicans to cross over and vote for Hillary (hello - how do most folks thin that Juan McLame has become the nominee for the Repub side?), we saw our own voice watered down or silenced by liberals who pushed to screw up the Republican primary.
Of course, how many REAL conservatives did we have to chose from in the first place? Duncan Hunter who barely made a blip on the radar screen (who is an earmark lover...)? Tom Tancredo (also barely a blip)? Heck - Ron Paul kicked those guys’ tails.
When the deck is stacked, you DO have grounds to complain about the hand you are dealt. WE were not even presented with a solid candidate to vote for.
well, the dems threaten to recreate 68 how come we cant do the same? We are just going to roll over for Mccain. whatever guys, do me a favor nominate conservates to congress, I dont care if they are Dem or republican, start tossing the rinos out of congress.make mccain’s presidency tough.
McCain is the nominee, electing Obama will be a nightmare for the country, you didn’t get anyone else nominated during the primaries, get over it.
All this nonsense does is elect Obama.
Amen!
“Can we pressure the RNC to select another candidate?”
Challenge the credentials of the McCain delegates. Doing that successfully would deny them standing at the convention. Not sure how it might be done because that would entail lining up republicans with guts to start a floor fight. That alone is a huge obstacle.
I would think that some number of these delegates would be pro-abortion, anti-second amendment and hold other beliefs that don’t line up with the Republican platform. That alone might be grounds not to seat some McCain delegates.
I don’t know; I’m just throwing ideas out. I’m uncertain of the process to do this.
So I defer to Freepers who have been delegates to republican conventions to clue us in on the procedure and their opinions on whether such a challenge might be successful.
Oh Really. To quote a former presidential candidate "Bring it Oooooon!" McCain will go down in flames.
I still may write in Fred Thompson in November. I'll have a clear conscience. McCain ain't gonna win my state anyways.
NO ONE even knows who the RNC Chairman is!!! WHO IS IT??
