Is it possible to pressure the RNC to select another candidate? I think we are pretty much unanimous in wanting someone else other than Mccain. I think some of you are holding out on a conservative VP to keep Mccain in check, don't hold your breath. The DNC could be in for a major meltdown, it would be a perfect time for a real conservative to win. Instead Mccain will barely eek out a win, since he will win without conservative support he won't need or listen to us.
Really? I'd love a FR vote. (Where have the sidebar polls gone?)
McCain is the GOP candidate, due to the primary process. If you dislike the way the GOP is handling their primaries, it's a different matter. We had our shot at nominating a conservative in the primaries. We were disunited... we got what we got.
Get over it and vote McCain or if you can't then vote third party write in, or Dem... There is no last second "deus ex machina" solution for this.
“Is it possible to pressure the RNC to select another candidate?”
Nope.
I feel your pain....
If MCain picks a democrat or independent for VP, they won’t be welcome at the convention.
Why would he pick a democrat or indie... he might be mightily wrong on some issues, but he is not that stupid. He will pick some Republican Governor.
Me too.
McCain now owns the RNC.
You’d be lucky to get two people in the door of the convention who haven’t pledged their loyalty to McCain.
They call it “Unity.”
Who would have guessed that McCain would take it all in the GOP?
How do you say we had our shot when my only choice was mccain by the time I could vote. I am really ticked off about that. The primaries should have been held on one day nationwide. Yeah I know some the proles didnt want to have 7 choices, I think it would’ve worked out better in the long run. I think this will be the last discussion I will have about Mccain, I will take my ball run from these threads, giving me an ulcer.
Mccain is good buds with Lieberman, I would not count him out as a VP
I’m betting that Lieberman will be Secretary of Defense. Very likely IMO. McCain will have to pick a Republican Governor or ex-Governor (Romney, Huckabee). There are good conservatives among them, but also RINOs. As a Senator he needs someone from the Executive area.
what would it take to draft Cheney?
You are right that the primary process needs to be adjusted. But if Conservatives would have organized nationwide to support one candidate, instead of splitting on Paul, Hunter, Huck, Thompson and Romney, we could have pushed the Conservative candidate from primary to primary. The same primary process that had Huck, Romney and McCain in the game until the end, could easily had a good conservative in it instead.
he can pick a rino, so I wont vote his vp in 2012. I am going to throw my vote away on LP or CP. I am leaning more towards CP because LP selected Barr, his aclu ties bump him off my list. However many conservative republicans want to vote for him...hmmmm.

McCain himself isn’t welcome.

What difference does it make? Okay, I admit that it would please the conservative voters ego and heart, when he votes according to his ideals and principles, but in the end these votes are thrown away (as you said).

We may not like it around here, and I personally wish McCain was 20 years younger, but he is our best chance to keep the White House.
With any other candidate on the Dem side (both Hillary and BHO have extremely high negatives) we would have no chance to win. At least with McCain it is competitive.
