If true, and its a big if, the money was likely funneled into their nuclear program under the radar. If lower level bureaucrats knew the money was going into their nuke program it wouldn't remain a secret.

Which won’t be good. They might replace him with “reformists” who make kissy-face with the West, call for diplomacy and negotiations in a non-provocative way, but the objectives remain the same. Hmmm.... I wonder how much of that money was used to arm Iranian trained terrorists — OOPS, I mean “Iraqi Insurgents”. I’m guessing a lot of the other money went to Russia for help with their nuclear program, along with a good portion to North Korea (heck, why not just add China in while we’re at it - seriously).

The day will come when all of this backfires and the truth will be known by the WORLD about Iran and their allies. That day can’t come soon enough, IMHO.

Or...maybe this is a story wholly concocted by Amahnutjob to cover for their failing economy. Maybe there is no missing $35 billion! Maybe this allows the ruling clerics to create a bogeyman, and then they'll find some bureaucrat schmuck to pin it on and - after they execute him - blame him for all the current economic problems.
