My sister in law, who worked for Habitat for Humanity in Seattle, quit after she saw them giving houses to “everyone BUT American citizens”.

I’d agree with your relative ,, the truth is that illegals have no credit history and are easier to get approved than an American with a few (explainable) issues... My brother-in-law who is a home depot employee volenteers for them and I often buy “new in box” donated goods at their overstock store for a fraction of the usual retail price ...
