The Iraq war American KIA are the lowest since the war began. 19 so far this month. Bear in mind that we still have 3 days left in the month. But the only month that even comes close is February, 2004 when there were 20 American KIA.
Lets focus on the great news!!!
Call me what you like and after memorializing on Monday those who paid the ultimate price for freedom;
let us all thank God that this month has been the lowest casualty month of the war...so far!
I guess posts like that is why no one gets to read much good news - they’re too busy pulling the hot knife out of their brain after trying to decipher the headline...
Exactly. Well said, kellynla.
19 is incorrect if you define KIA as service members lost in hostile action. I think the number using that definition is 15 for the current month, which is the lowest in the history of the war. Zero can’t come soon enough, but if we continue to allow accidental deaths and those due to illness in the number to be reported as ‘Iraq War Deaths’, that number will never be zero since accidents, though already remarkably low considering, will unfortunately continue. The shameful use of the numbers of dead as political ammo is galling, but even more so when headlines of ‘Iraq War Dead Reach 4000’, when more that 500 of those deaths were due to illness and accident, which would have happened at some rate regardless of the state of war or lack of war. The military suffered a higher rate of loss due to accident and non hostile causes in time of peace, as under the ‘enlightened leadership’ of the Noble Peace Prize winning Carter. Which I hastened to add, does nothing to lessen the noble sacrifice of those volunteering today and paying the ultimate price.
That’s just murders in Philly as of 1-24 of each year.
We havc to take advantage of this and not let it get out of hand like the last time we had 20 kia/month.
