Next you’ll be saying backyard pig slaughtering has always been considered de rigour in the San Francisco Bay Area, ‘cause its becoming as common as the good ol’American BBQ today.
No clue about what is de rigeur in the SF area as I live on the East coast. But this is probably going to make me sound redneck-lol-we have a friend who slaughters his yearly hog and then does his pig roast in a huge oil drum barbeque that is powered by a motor from a Toyota. He rigged it up himself and hosts his yearly pig roast in his backyard down the road, with the haybarn doors open and picnic tables set up inside. An event we all look forward to. But his is only one of many - there are always pig and bull roasts going on around here. Nothin’ better than a big ol’ beef sandwich right out of the pit ;)
