I mean perhaps you should consider a new handle.

Non-issue. Keeping chickens is a good thing. Those neighbors who object to using a small, engine-less school bus as an impromptu coop can just go stuff it! (The chicken, that is.)

Plus, my pit bulls enjoy the shade under the bus. My kids' pony is kept in the backyard, or staked to a chain at a nearby highway cloverleaf, and the cow lives in a stall just off the alley.

What I do on my 25'X 50' lot is my business. The sand-filled abandoned fridge is a perfectly adequate backstop for my pistol range and I never practice after dark.

Let's keep this in perspective: there used to be sheep on the White House lawn, and a coop out back.

No clue about what is de rigeur in the SF area as I live on the East coast. But this is probably going to make me sound redneck-lol-we have a friend who slaughters his yearly hog and then does his pig roast in a huge oil drum barbeque that is powered by a motor from a Toyota. He rigged it up himself and hosts his yearly pig roast in his backyard down the road, with the haybarn doors open and picnic tables set up inside. An event we all look forward to. But his is only one of many - there are always pig and bull roasts going on around here. Nothin’ better than a big ol’ beef sandwich right out of the pit ;)

My mom kept chickens in the back yard of their bungalow in Glendale.

Of course, that was 1937.

“She is a librarian. By default she is almost certainly a lib and favors unchecked immigration.”

I thought the librarians nominated Bob Barr?

Goaty-goat!! I love it; too bad he had to mess up:)

In Mexico, stewed goat is called ‘chivo’ and it is delicious.

I’ve got to wonder what conservatism is coming to when we get in a huff about people who “happen” to be Hispanic keeping a few chickens in the yard and -— gasp -— having a vegetable garden, and when one of the leading conservative columnists wants to dictate what women can and cannot wear because her paranoia was triggered by a fringed scarf.

You can see this if you ride the train from Long Beach up to LA’s Union Station. I had no idea that in the inner city it was looking so much like a rural third world shanty town.

I would not want to see that part of town any other way (than zipping past on a train).

If you're in Southern California, come to the Azusa City Library, where one of the Reference Librarians is a Freeper, and where you can get the hottest conservative books.

Illegal immigration is not a Mexican problem. It is an American problem.

If I were faced with the choice of $5 per day, or $10 per hour a short hard hike away, I'd be walking with them and taking my damned chickens with me. Repeat: it is not Mexico's fault that we have an ineffective border and do not enforce our own laws, and in fact, allow a foreign power to dictate our de facto, extra-legal immigration policy.

For many, it is easier to dislike Mexicans than to think the problem through. That many are easy to dislike only compounds the problem and the stupidity.

Some of the birds may be being used in cockfighting. But animal control officers say most of the backyard roosters are not implicated in anything so sinister. They are simply part of the household, a hobby and a comfort for immigrants who hope to re-create a little piece of home in a faraway, foreign place.

And recreate third world diseases also. There are reasons so many new diseases come from countries where people live with their animals.
