Investigators say a ‘‘survivalist” with a stockpile of food and more than 30 weapons and 230 pounds of chemicals was ‘‘rolling along” in producing explosives in his Gaithersburg townhouse when he was arrested last week.
When authorities searched the man’s home, they also found his 12-year-old son sleeping with a loaded handgun under his pillow and another within reach, county police said.
An anonymous tip about illegal fireworks led federal and county investigators to James L. Boka, 47, officials said. He was arrested May 21 and charged with 11 counts of possession of a destructive device, two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of weapon endangerment to a minor, according to a statement from county fire officials. He was released from custody the same day on $60,000 bond.
‘‘The amount of chemicals that he had in his house were a public safety hazard,...‘‘...We were just glad we were able to stop this guy because he was already rolling along.
A James Boka registered with an online Ron Paul county group described himself as a U.S. Navy veteran who has worked inside Washington for 25 years in nearly every major agency, including World Bank, Pentagon.
I have been aware of the plan to destroy the USA for many years now and I have grown tired of preaching the danger to so many people who do not want to hear it,the profile continues. ...There is nothing more important to any American right now than to fight off the attempts of the New World Order and its puppet masters from destroying the last few pieces of the United States Constitution before it is too late. I want to help in any way I can so my son does not grow up in a fascist police state.

This is a thread on gun safety, don’t try to bring Paul into it.
in his Gaithersburg townhouse
Its one thing to be a survivalist stockpiling stuff for The End on 20 acres in the countryside. Its another to do it in a townhouse in a dense suburb like Gaithersburg, MD (DC bedroom community).
Huh??
An unloaded gun is as good a bladeless parring knife with a broken handle. Especially when it is two AM and there is an intruder comming through your window.
>He was released from custody the same day on $60,000 bond.<
Something tells me the judge wasn’t too concerned about this guy blowing up City Hall or anything else.
...now back to the topic 99% of the rest of us are discussing, gun safety..
So what? When I was 12 I knew how to shoot, clean a gun and was not afaid of a loaded gun. Imagine that a loaded gun! So what you are buying onto is that a 12 yo and this “nutcase” are not to be trusted only “hunters” and “recreational” shooters who don’t keep “loaded” guns are.
“Idiots who don’t practice basic gun safety rules just give ammo to the anti-second amendment crowd.”
No, it’s morons like you who back up a step everytime the MSM throws out a story. Oh my God a twelve YO with a loaded gun!
I keep a gun unloaded with a clip next to it in a locked case under my bed. I can have the case unlocked and gun loaded in less that 20 seconds. Sleeping with a loaded gun under your pillow is an idiotic move that one generally only sees in the movies and is about as dumb as holding your gun sideways to shoot. The rules I posted were the basics of NRA gun safety. We have the right to own guns, but we also have the responsibility to handle them properly.
Of course the safety issue is real but the bigger issue I think, just because it a stupid thing to do, it is not against the law to be stupid.
Owning a gun and teaching your son firearms proficiency is legal, practicing survivalist skills is legal and so is stockpiling food. Also reading books about how to make a bomb or a rocket is legal.
The only thing this guy seems to have done is to possess chemicals that when combined, could explode which may or may not be legal.
This article take a lot of legal activities and mixes them up into and article that paints these behaviors paint them with a negative brush.
And another thing, the NRA is not the sole authority all things gun.
What's the fundamental difference? Do you think that the charges would be any different if he were on a 20 acre lot?
Do I think (or say) his rights should be taken away? No. I do, however (as others here have) express my disgust with his stupid irresponsibility.
Now go back to the sheep practice of defending everything this guy did and avoiding critical thought.
You are the only one without “critical thought” If the 12yo knows how to use a gun what is your point? That you agree with the MSM and how dare this man allow a 12 yo to sleep with a loaded gun. He MUST BE A CRIMINAL!
>Basic gun safety. Always keep a gun unloaded until it is ready to use. Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.<
You would most certainly mess your underwear if you came to my home. There is a loaded gun in every room, including the garage, where my wife or I spend a substantial amount of our time. You do have to know where to look for them because they are not sitting out collecting dust but the weapon is available quickly, should the need arise.
What is not common in our home is unauthorized person(s). We are selective on whom we invite to stay with us because of this fact. If I or my wife think there is any chance you will are the type to do unauthorized snooping when the door is closed we simply don’t invite you to inside the front door.
Our last visitor left a box of Federal Premium .357’s on the nightstand. Freepers can be so forgetful.
Personally, I keep my magazine loaded, in the gun with one chambered, un cocked of course and in a handgun case. There are no children or any others who would not have unauthorized access to the weapon.
Don't know what your situation is but trust you have it under control. PS, work on that 20 secs. Sometimes that can be an eternity ;^)
