No, and I don't care. My point was not that technology should be flawless. We shouldn't expect it to be flawless.
My point was: The government shouldn't be using our tax money to fund non-military science programs.
My example of Pres. Bush throwing more money at NASA in 2003 in response to its colossal, preventable Columbia failure is typical. Only government rewards failure, without holding individuals responsible for it.
The Phoenix is cool, but projects like it should be funded thru voluntary contributions. Otherwise, the wasted costs are staggering.
