LONDON, England (CNN) -- Humanitarian aid workers and United Nation peacekeepers are sexually abusing small children in several war-ravaged and food-poor countries, a leading European charity has said.
Children as young as 6 have been forced to have sex with aid workers and peacekeepers in return for food and money, Save the Children UK said in a report released Tuesday.
After interviewing hundreds of children, the charity said it found instances of rape, child prostitution, pornography, indecent sexual assault and trafficking of children for sex.
"It is hard to imagine a more grotesque abuse of authority or flagrant violation of children's rights," Jasmine Whitbread, chief executive of Save the Children UK, said. [snip]

US out of UN NOW!!!
Why couldn't the 19 have flown into the UN building?
What they really need are baby blue condoms with a UN globe logo over the tip, just to make things abundantly clear.
“Why couldn’t the 19 have flown into the UN building?”
Because that would have been an “own goal.”

Does this scandal rate an Abu-Ghraib scale expose by Sy Hirsch?
I guess not, since Bush isn’t involved anywhere.
Such a noble humanitarian organization. I bet we donate more next year.
I think folks are missing the point here.
We should be insisting on knowing how the UN is holding those responsible accountable. And to punish them severely.
Repatriation of those who commit these acts? What deterrence is that?
The Catholic Church has been held accountable, and appropriately so, for the behaviors of a small fraction of its priests. And the libs claim that the Church has not done enough.
Where is their outrage here? Where is their call for accountability? Where is the blanket condemnation of the entire organization?
This is NOT, NOT, NOT about whether we should be in or out of the UN. It is about punishing the retrobates, predators, and scum that are doing this. And holding the UN itself accountable.
Well said.
“...a more grotesque abuse of authority” - I love the implied superiority and racism in this phrase. It is a true statement, but is the UN there to help these people or rule them?
